After being in this business now for about 8 years I'm starting to think about going it alone to earn my millions and retire somewhere warm, with a flash car and a trophy wife. I have been doing some research and am wondering what the best way to go is. LTD company seems good because you could pay less tax, and if it all goes t**s up, im not going to loose the house etc . However sole trader on the other hand seems a lot easier to set up and manage.

Just off the phone and he is a bit "tired" to post. The new game plan is a TSI Track Day we all attend and if he beats me, he has the first ten punches unprotected in our previous mentioned boxing bout. So who fancies a TSI track day, generally costs about £150 tops for a few laps in a sports car on a track? http://www.driversdreamdays.co.uk/drivers-special-offers/Dunsfold-surrey-Only-Special-Offers/Dunsfold-one-car-experience R8 ? Aston? Lambo? The choice is yours!!

Just fitted one of these http://www.staywell.co.uk/Intl/UK/Products/Pet-Porte-Smart-Flap/Microchip-Smart-Flap-Wall-Mount-White Great gizmo. It only lets the cat in if its microchip is loaded into the memory keeping everyone else's cats out. The only issue is it needs permanent 12v supply to it.

Has any one ever thought about using an independent consultant to assist in adding more services you supply to your clients ? As an independent Security Consultant specialising in remote CCTV systems I am able to assist installers and end users take their CCTV systems to the next level. Stand alone CCTV is almost obsolete and remote monitoring is the only way to go. I am not trying to teach anyone to ''suck eggs'' but merely offering support and guidance. check out for more info.

Ok so main pitfalls imo with opentap were: 50p call charge and the registration process. The new number 07045607101 needs no registration. Just enter the receiving phone numbers with a "44" instead of "0" 50p call charge still stands max 2 texts per drop call. No e-mail obviously due to the lack of registration. This is a big improvement with the service.

We're still on carbon copy pen and paper, personally I think we're well behind times. We should be giving iPads a trail soon for the most frequent on site paperwork. I've made a PDF form of our Preventative Maintenance sheet and planning on using PDF Expert app. Our only worry is, with pen and paper, there is less chance of sensitive information being found. For example if you disconnect a system, this would be documented, normally this would be on the sheet you leave with the client, but using an iPad I would have to email the sheet to the office then they post the sheet. Criminal postman Pat could open their letter and see the alarm is disconnected and have their …

Hi Guys A customer of mine has asked that I install a unit onto his driveway gate, allowing him and his children to set and unset a perimeter alarm system and unlock the pedestrian gate. I have repeatedly tried to push him away from voice recognition but he is adamant he wants it. I am going to tell him that I will fit one but I will not offer any guarantees on reliability, sort of a "I told you so" in 6 months when he is still having problems. Am I being too sceptical and does anybody know of any reliable and secure voice recognition units? Have any of you installed such devices and would recommend a manufacturer or specific product? I wanted to fit …

Just wondering if anyone uses promotional videos for their company, Either on their website, Business Facebook page or twitter account. I've just had mine done with a professional voiceover artist. Personally I'm quite pleased with it, I think it looks ok, I'm looking to get another couple done, based around the specific areas I want to target. So, Does anyone promote their business this way ??

Anybody quoting for these? Seem to lack a useable back tamper. Have asked Pyronix on the phone and now 2 emails to themselves but no reply. Am unable to quote using Pyronix Enforcer as it does not comply. NSI have told me to not use them until the matter is resolved.
