Have been in my present property 3 years but I am certain the alarm system has been installed for going on 6 years. This past week I have had a number of spurious low level alarms at the bellbox. Due to it's age I decided to purchase a replacement, a Honeywell AG6. It was a dry afternoon today so decided to climb the ladder and open the box. The tamper did not sound and signs of burning on the PCB so a good thing I purchased a replacement and not just a battery. The CP is a Accenta G4 but I have no idea the make of the bellbox. The wiring to the box is as follows:- Strobe+ve Blue wire Strobe -ve White wire Terminal T Yellow Terminal…

Hello: I've recently moved house and looking to install an alarm system (again). My brother and I have previously installed the Scantronic 9600 alarm systems in our previous houses. We are not in the alarm system trade (software programmers during the day!) but found that this was a simple, reliable system as well as very cheap to pick up second hand from ebay. I want to try something new with a bit more capability but within reasonable price level and something not massively more complicated than installing the scantronics we used to use. It would be good to be able to log into the system using a PC/mobile: to look at logs, use my mobile while I am out an…

Same prog setup as an enforcer?? We currently use 9651's as our most basic hard wired system, but as it's the only cooper thing we fit I feel we need to move on really especially if the price is there about what we get the scannies in for. We fit enforcers for real budget stuff and they seem solid enough

  4. Hi Everyone, I am an electrician and have been asked to fix a faulty Ademco 8 panel (the main box bit not the keypad). The transformer is putting out 0VDC. I tried to source a new panel but ended up with a Galaxy12. Are these compatible? The connections dont all seem to be the same. If not what could I use in place of the Ademco? Thanks!

Hi, My dad's Veritas 8 alarm is doing weird things, that the original installer has given up trying to solve. He says he has contacted the manufacturers for a solution, but as to whether he has..... The alarm works fine when set, but occasionally (no pattern) it goes off when it is not set - Dads just watching telly. Some days it does it and it can go a few days without doing it, but late afternoon or early evenings are most common. The exterior alarm box doesn't sound, but the internal sounder does. You have to put in the code to shut it up, and press reset. The tamper light usually lights as well, and occasionally some or all of the zone lights. T…

I have been installing/servicing etc for quite a while now (since 1993) but i have a question for anyone who deals with remote CCTV an area which i havent really dealt with apart from local stuff. i have been asked to provide CCTV for a site which is to be remotely viewed by our monitoring station. we havent as a company done this service before so i thought i would ask on here if anyone can recommend types of camera or dome , detection and control panel which are quite simple to install. the site would have external detection and mainly cameras would be extern…

  13. Call came in today. Customer advised that the mains tripped overnight for a second or two and the Menvier panel says all nodes are lost. Obviously a problem that needs sorting. Usual advice before attending ref charges etc. Wife comes on phone spouting that this happens all the time and the engineers just give her a code and goes through a process. and that she will not pay for a callout. I explain that in one short visit I could probably sort it once and for all, and that it is something like a battery fault in a psu. Still won't accept it, ' why are you being awkward? just give me a reset code'. I again explain that although the engineers reset over the phone, it is an …

  14. Hi there, I'm hoping to collect some advice and opinions for a new alarm installation. I'm building a new house - 5 bedrooms, two floors and attached garage. I've hard-wired the house ready for alarm (using Cat5e for simplicity alongside data network). My intention is to have 8 PIR's and 5 door switches covering various zones (to provide full alarm and perimeter protection while at home). Most importantly, I want to put a touch screen in the hall that will allow control of z wave devices for home automation. I'd also like the alarm system to have internet capability so that email alerts can be raised. I'm not bothered about telephone modules, txt commands and so-…
