Going Self Employed

Looking at the number of firms up for sale for little money shows we aren't the only ones that don't see our future in the industry we love.

Good luck but I have had a week of this year with the family in total.

It's just the way it goes with new customers but the older ones are the most important with new work.

Do I want to be in this trade in 10 years.... Not at all.

Only having time for a week off in a year must mean business is good though?

lifestyle- would be nice the have the flexibility to be able to plan my own work so if I need a day off for say the  kids  sports day I can have it with out having to give 3 weeks  notice just to be told sorry someone has it off already.

unless you have staff or can the turn the phone off, there's a high probity your evening, weekends & holidays will be disturbed with work.

If its bringing in cash its all good.

Warranty and under-maint calls will not be bringing in cash.

Good example of where being employed its a gas to go out at 3am and earn £££s

Working for yourself having already pocketed the money, not so funny.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

I remember those days. They were ace. Getting calls at 3am for no $ is bad

By the sounds of it most of the people on here are self employed and hate it. Does beg the question why are you doing it when you could jack it all in and get a cushy job servicing from 9 to 5  ?

I don't hate it. But there's no pot of gold.

But I always miss my kids sports days, taking the wee lass to see her dancing and the wee boy doing football practise during the week and these lessons are at 6pm!

See the wee man on a Saturday though but trust me this industry is 24hrs.

I have had to work after having about 3 hours sleep over 7 years with customers and family commitments.

Give me a 9 to 5 job for the money!

I'm not and love it...tho even sometimes I have to agree with brough through gritted teeth, starting from scratch these days will be tough..and you will be working twice as much for half the reward for a good couple,of years ...
