Hello Re, Home 4 Camera Security System. Could anyone please advise, if there is a system commercially available in UK, which has the provision to sound a warning alert inside the house, if and when any one of the cameras is triggered by movement? Can anyone please advise, of a system having an automatic battery backup, to ensure that the system continues to function in the event of a power cut? Many thanks, Pete.

Hello all, I would like some advice please. I have a Pyronix Sterling 10 alarm system that has been mega reliable over the last 12 or so years. The problem I have now is that the buttons on the remote lcd keypad no longer work. In fact I've been chasing the code around the panel moving to characters that still work for a few years now. However, I'm now faced with the situation where the 'set' key needs a 80 kg weight (me) to arm the system. Reluctantly then, It's time to move on and replace. I made contact with Pyronix and asked where I could by a like for like system. I'm aware that they still manufacture a sterling 10 model, but from the response I got from them, it s…

Hi, I have just installed a texecom Elite 48 & with thanks to this website & reading the manual over & over finally sorted it. The system has a Com 2400 for sending sms messages to my mobile & a Com IP for accessing it via the internet/ mobile app, but I am having problems. I first had my mobile number as the SMS centre but all it would do is ring my mobile, bt have said that my line is set up for sending text messages but I have no way of testing this. So I then reset the comms page using the default Vodafone number 07785 499993 as calls centre No1 & left the defunct O2 as No2. The ARC No1 prim tel No is my mobile (ignore the protocol options these…

After some consideration & replies from this site, I have decided to install a Texecom Elite 48 (metal) with 8XP expander & a com2400. The system is all set up using Wintex software with door magnets & PIR’s, the problem I have is I have set up the part arming for night time so the PIR’s are not on in the house just the door magnets (dogs & small children). However, I can not figure out how to set up this part arm so the keypad or internal sounder does not beep so waking up the house every time it is set at night. I had a Honeywell Accenta G4 previously, which I had programmed for silent arming for night time, but I cannot figure this out. The other probl…

Hi, I would like some advice on the best route to take with regard to selecting and installing a security system. I am in the middle of a self build project right now and am building a large family home (about 8000 sqft). To keep costs down we are doing as much as we can on the project ourselves (from foundations to dry-lining). Right now, the timber kit is up and we're about to start first fix. I work in IT (networking and security) and have an electronics/engineering background, while my father-in-law who is project managing for us is a qualified electrician. I intend to deploy a server based CCTV system myself - probably Milestone with Axis or Acti camer…

I am looking for an alarm system/dialler that I can reset & monitor remotely via the internet. So ideally, I am after the system to text my mobile that the alarm has been activated. I can then access the alarm system via the internet find out which zone has been activated, check the CCTV also via the internet & if all is ok reset the alarm. The main reason is the property has a few outbuildings that have bats living in them which have set off the PIRs in the past & members of the staff who unlock & open the doors set the alarm off & then deny all knowledge of it as they were not suppose to be there when I’m not around.

Saw this and thought it was quite funny although not sure if ADT would. Raises an interesting question though, will arcs become like other 24 hour operations where depending on the time of day depends what part of the world is in control? My VMware support is 24/7 and during the daytime it comes from Ireland, evening comes from the US and through the night India and I must confess no complaints from any country. The only current barrier I see to doing this is inspectorate approval.

Hi, I'm wishing to replace my existing wired system and would like advice as to which system to buy for DIY install though I am fine with tech/programming/computers/plc's etc but never looked at alarms for 25 years - mines just packed in! I intend to replace all wired pir's and add a few more. At the moment my control unit is a key operated one but I'd like to replace with either remote keypad (but no ability to run in any cable so it must be wireless) or wireless keyfobs (4 off). Currently I have 2 zones but wish to add another. I'm happy to add wired extra pir's or use wireless as you advise. I'd like to add garage door, ideally wireless switch sensor rather…

Hello I hope someone will be able to help me. My aged mother's alarm is under a maintenance contract. Each year, the company states that she needs a new battery for the panel - charging £35 + VAT each year for the privilege. I have questioned why it needs replacing so frequently, to be told that it isn't the same battery that is replaced each year - but that there is more than one. I suspect I can buy the batteries cheaper myself - can someone tell me what batteries my Scantronic 9800+ system is likely to require? - It is quite large with 16 zones connected up. If the type and quantity of batteries vary, not having the engineer's code, can I simply ope…

Can anyone explain an error that has appeared a few times on my Honeywell Galaxy 2 system? When I tried to set the alarm, on leaving, an error appeared saying 'Kitchen 1004 Open'. This relates to a wireless PIR. On one occasion I waited for 5 minutes and the error had disappeared when I came to try setting the alarm again. On another occasion, I waited for 2 minutes for the wireless PIR to reset itself (battery saving feature) but when I tried to set the alarm again, I got the same error. However, I waited another 2 minutes, then walked into the kitchen - hence tripping the PIR, then when I came to set the alarm again, it worked OK. This has happened 4 times within 2 ye…

Hi there, I inherited an alarm system in my house nearly twenty years ago, which I had serviced regularly. Over time it became more-and-more temperamental (the alarm company upgraded my Regalsafe RS100 to a Gardtec 800 and the (after a lightning strike) to a Gardtec 595; but then I started to get infrared sensors causing problems - "spiders inside the sensor", "broken wire", "old age", etc.; the last major failure was 3 years ago when I was on annual vacation, which proved to be a considerable annoyance to the neighbours). So I decided not to use the alarm any more, and just ignored it. Well, it's payback time now . Last night the console alarm went off because t…

Hi Whilst we were away a neighbour noticed our strobe unit flashing but no sounders going. When I went to turn panel off zone 1 was in alarm state but none of the others. Reset alarm all OK, no signs of break-in so no problem but decided to check battery as not been changed for years and to test system. Battery reading 13.2v with mains off, shorted out tamper pins and went through the tests. All OK but NO external sounders, strobe OK, internal sounder OK panel lights ok. Is there any way I can test from the panel whether the sounder is getting the signal or voltage from the panel to activate? I ask because to get to the sounder box means climbing on newly done …
