Need a bit of help, from the oldies like myself perhaps. At one time, when dinosaurs walked the earth, we put our own warning devices together. A sounder, microswitches , battery, and a small sab module. I need these sab modules, many had on board batteries and occasionally timers, but I'm not in a position to the pros and cons. Looked just about everywhere on the net but ..nothing. It would be appreciated if anyone could keep a look out for these little sab mods. I'll buy you a drink when I next see you.

  4. Hi all Just a few questions if any engineer can help out with an opinion and whether my lay thoughts are justified. Free security alarm with 24 hour monitoring giving full peace of mind. A security alarm system paid for by a housing company on behalf of an end user (the tenant) - so essentially free of charge to the tenant (but probably with 3rd party contract rights for the tenant - but that's another matter) is allegedly fully 'fitted'. The property is a bungalow type with two main entrances the front door and the backdoor. The property has 1x lounge/living room, 1x bedroom, 1 x kitchen and 1x bathroom. As of August 2014 there were 1 report of a burglary in…

Hi all, I'd like some advice on a situation I've managed to land myself in since moving to Virgin for phone and broadband. I moved into my current house about five years ago and it had an installed ADT system and we took over the contract. All was fine until we moved to Virgin and the main phone socket was moved to a different room. The ADT system is wired directly into the back of the original BT socket in the kitchen and is now, of course, no longer connected. Virgin point blank refuse to place a socket in the kitchen so at the moment the alarm is not connected to ADT. As a solution to this I bought a wireless telephone extension that plugs into a 13A wall s…

hi guys, can some one point me in the direction of a ARC software that can receive via a 56k modem or similar ? or is there is a cheap hardware interface. cant seem to find anything via google etc. i have been using software that came with the texecom panels and its not bad, but i can't get it to interface with pstn. any help would be good as the project i am working on, has no option for ip or gsm. this is just a short term project so not looking to set up a dedicated full time ARC, just need to monitor some panels over the phone for a few weeks. thanks for your help .

Hi All. I have a DA Systems Abacus 8 alarm that was already installed when I bought the house. I am guessing it is about 15yrs old, and I want to add an additional keypad to the bedroom so that I can set / unset the alarm without having to go downstairs (I know it is lazy). I've spoken to a few local companies, but they tell me the system is obsolete and I need to purchase a brand new alarm from them instead. I fully accept that this is probably true, but I want to see if there are any compatible keypads that will work with this system before I shell out for a new alarm. Does anyone know if I can use another type of keypad with this alarm ? Details are: …

Hi folks, I've scanned through the website & there is a great deal of info & helpful knowlede provided but I hope someone could help me out. I installed a Hkc alarm in my house about 7/8 yrs ago & have now added an extension consisting of 2 new windows with standard contacts wired back to the panel. Could someone help me with the programming of this extra zone or is there a way of series wiring it with another similar wired zone so I don't have to program it.I did program this myself initially but have simply forgotten over time, Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

  14. I have a 9751 Scantronic which I would want to add a wireless panic button. I have obtained a RFX08 expander with a 727r four button telecommand key fob.Prior to fitting I have tried putting the RFX in learn mode via a temporary 12VDC supply using a battery. The RFX on powering up lights "88" with a short beep and on pressing the select buton shows "_ _" . Pressing the 727r key fob its LED flashes on and off but I cannot get it to talk to the RFX.The RFX just stays in "_ _" without even a single tone even if it could not learn the 727r any help would be much appreciated?

Hi all, I'm looking at replacing my wired Scantronic 9800 with a new system. I haven't had a survey/quote yet as I'm not sure which system I need or whether there is even one that does what I want and don't want to waste mine or an installer's time. I want to be able to arm, part arm, disarm, view cameras (PIRs) and logs from a web browser and smartphone. I have found a few systems which offer all of these such as the Visonic Powermax but couldn't see whether you can view the cameras on request or only when an alarm is triggered. Does anybody know? I also want the system to be wired and un-monitored. I would appreciate any advice given. Many thanks …
