Hi, I am a bit of a noob when it comes to alarms so apologies in advance. I have what I think is an Ademco Accor 8 Alarm (see picture) which was fitted to my house which I bought from new back in 2004. I have never had any issue apart from a year ago or so the transformer blew which I replaced and it continued to work as before. Recently though, I had to switch the power off which set off the alarm but when I switched the power back on the internal alarm continued to sound. I switched the power off and on a couple more time which eventually silenced the internal alarm. However, now I can't set the alarm, we only used to use "Full Set" (Easy Set 1) and "N…

Hi, I'm looking for any information regarding ARC's in Cyprus. I'm looking to move over there in a couple of years and start a security company. I've looked at some of the equipment and prices being paid for very poor installations and feel we are further advanced in Britain. IP signals would be too unreliable I feel, plus from the research I have done, the level 1 responce could be different to ours. I'd be looking for an ARC to take on vision systems aswel as intruder but Im not sure how advanced they are and reliable. I've run the idea of setting up but may over complicate an already risky venture. Anybody got any advice?

Hello all, I am sure you get a lot of first time posters launching in with a question, hopefully you’ll excuse me doing the same! I have recently moved into a house in Manchester that has a previously installed ADT/Honeywell Domonial system with 4 PIRs, door contact and a couple of glass break sensors on non opening side windows. It has the wireless keypad controller but no fobs or tags (apparently ADT can order some new tags). I have had an ADT rep out and they can reconnect the current system and move onto their standard £22 a month monitoring service. However I am not convinced that the current setup, with the control unit mounted near the front door, and…

Hi all, Im new to this forum. I dont actually work in the security industy although I am a controls engineer so have similar traits. Im just after some advice really regarding a recent service of a relatives burglar alarm. To cut a long story short a bill for £660 was recieved as "apparently" the "main control box" had to be changed.....Hmmm seems steep! Anyway I was suspicious so checked what work had been carried out only to find the main alarm panel did not look new and also the remote keypads which were apparently changed also had original paint on (nows that attention to detail if he did change them!). I decided to call the engineer who attended as no report …

Hi Ive just started a small cctv firm and have got a couple of good domestic jobs to start , i offer small domestic alarms but really dont want to bother with them as i have found them a lot of hassle ( fault finding once installed and dont want any call outs). Im after commercial work with cameras really and was thinking that if im say nsi approved will it really get me more of this sort of of work or will i be better off just staying as i am. I am a sole trader at the moment as i havent really got enough work to go Ltd. But i do have all the correct insurances and the crb check to get it. Im sure that you lot have more experience with the NSI or SSAIB than me an…

Can anyone offer ANY advice to a new installer ? I worked for BT for a long time and now I am going alone. I am thinking of registering with NSI but I am sure there a loads of other things I need to consider too. I have PLI, Limited Company etc. but I would love advice on the best manufacturers for home security systems, pro's and cons of wired vs wireless etc. Maybe you had all the same questions or some different ones which you wished you had asked ? It will really help me. Thanks.....

Hi, I have an alarm installed years ago that is set by (2) hand held remote controls. Recently on both of them, the batteries went. Whilst awaiting for replacement batteries to arrive we resorted to setting the alarm on the main control box. Now the batteries have arrived I have fitted them but the control panel doesn't seem to recognise them any more. (the LED comes on, on the remote so they seem to be ok now.) Is there a way to reset/re-synchronise the remotes to the alarm? I'm a carpenter & quite practical but the instruction manual that is for the alarm doesn't cover this. Many thanks.

Hi I am have looked at this youtube video of this night vision bullet camera and it looks great thing for my job. But I just wanted to double check. The camera will be placed to look at the back garden. There are no street lights at the back of the house and therefore very poorly lit. The garden is big and Ive tried other night vision cameras and the definition isnt good. Can anyone confirm it would be okay or not. Thanks

I have fitted a Galaxy G2-20. I have fitted a Pryonix deltabell E to system which is fully working. But i recently added an internal sounder to the panel and i have problems. I wired both bells by putting all wires in same terminals. I.E Both reds (h/0+) both blacks (h/o-) both blues (trigger) ad both yellows (tamper) when i put the siren into panel the deltabell starts ringing and will not stop until i take it out again. But the new internal siren works fine. I have wired it like this before and it has worked. Is it a case that i have to join the tamper from one bell to the neg from the other? or is there some sort of power issue?????
