Hi I'd be grateful for any advice from anyone with system upgrade knowledge/experience. I have an installed ADE Optima Compact that is around 24yrs old and needs replacing. I do not want to go down the wireless route but I'm not sure if I'm restricted in alarm system choice that I could upgrade to using all the current original wiring?? I would also like to add an additional key pad at the back door without running an additional wire, I have read some hardwired systems also have wi-fi functionality, is this possible?? Any system recommendations to upgrade to?? Thanks

Hi all I am not a security engineer just a home owner. I have a tool shed with a vanderbilt Act5e keypad controlling a maglock on the door. This is powered by an elmdene psu. It also has a green break glass and push to exit button. The power had stopped going to maglock and upon various checks with a multimeter the psu, break glass and push to exit switch was OK. I then removed keypad and water had made its way into back of unit and corroded the 12v and 0 terminals and the common wire had snapped. I have replaced the common wire into the 12v terminal and after connecting all back up, the red fault light is showing on the psu, however the maglock is now powered a…

I have an old vista 4110 uxm with a 6127 keypad. During the night the alarm activated showing zone 5, the garage. On inspection everything fine. This morning we tested and again the alarm sounded. We then removed zone 5 and all ok. We now have a code CF on the display but we don't know what this means and can't find it in the manual. Can anyone help? Thanks

Hi all Newbie here. I moved into a house which has a working Visonic PowerMaxComplete burglar alarm system with 4 PIRs, external alarm, 2 remote fobs and door sensor. A few weeks back, a surge knocked out a load of appliances, including the transformer in the alarm. Needless to say, running on the internal battery, it ran out of juice and has been dead since the transformer was replaced, It's now up and working, but my code isn't being accepted - neither is 1111 or 9999. Strange, as the fobs are working and also the door sensor. Hope it doesn't mean I'll have to do a hard reset and re-program everything TIA Guy

Hello Guys, Could someone please let me know how to delete a PIR sensor from my Risco Lightsys system? We used to have two PIRs in the hallway, but we physically removed one. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to permanently remove it from the panel, so we’re having to omit this sensor every time we set the system. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Just trying to work out a few things and wondering how straight forward it would be to completely remove my visonic powermax alarm. It’s hard wired to a fuse spur next to my fuse board. the landline is hard wired into the unit too I think. I have the installer code. What I’m not sure of is, if I open the control panel and remove the battery backup then turn the power off will the external bell siren be set off. There’s no way I’m going up a ladder to the bell housing. I think it has a backup battery in it. So I would just like to leave it where it is for now. Or can I disconnect the bell housing siren from within the installer mode

When the copper network gets switched off what will happen to my alarm. It currently uses my landline to ring me when it’s set off. Will this be useless now or can I just add something to it? thanks

I've moved into a flat with an Optima XM6. As far as I know, it was last used sometime before 2011, though it's been connected to power all that time (except when the power goes off, of course!), and the sellers did not mention any propensity for it to go off. I'm wondering what state it might be in. Only the power light is showing (no day mode light), which should mean it's armed. However since it doesn't go off (either by sounding or showing an attack light), it must be either in some other state, or simply dead. There's an external (presumably self-contained) sounder/strobe with a defunct company name on it. I guess my main concern i…

I have a hybrid self installed alarm system installed 12 years ago. This is a bungalow with all wiring and control boxes within the loft. Control boxes are fixed to the wall and all wiring is cleated. This started a few months ago. Every time our Dyson vacuum cleaner is used in the dining room the tamper alarm sounds and clears itself after a few minutes. This does not happen if the Dyson is "used" switched off. There is a wired alarm pir in the room. There is only wiring above this room. The wireless receiver is above a different room. There are five wired pirs, a door sensor and two remote wireless pirs. Anyone ever experienced this and can suggest what it may be? Could…
