Hi, I’m looking for some help. Could anyone offer any advice on the below 3 quotations received for a security system to be installed and on whether they're reliable and recommended systems. The property is a residential 5 bedroom house with 3 reception rooms. Regarding price I don't really have a budget but don't want to go for something above what is required for a residential property. I am also looking for a good system that isn't in danger of being left behind by the latest technology. I have decided on a wired system, as the property needs decorating. I have received 3 quotations from installers in my area, I left the installers to complete their own quotations b…

Hi all, i've been researching Wireless alarms and came across this forum and I have done quite a lot of reading on here and this seems to be the place to go for good advice! i know there are other "which wireless alarm" threads and I hope that you guys aren't completely sick of these just yet and are good to give a bit more advice. I have got 4 quotes from NSI approved companies and, if we ignore costs for the moment, I wanted some advice on which hardware would be the best to go for out of the following: Visonic PowerMax Scantronic ion-16 Pyronix Enforcer I'm sure each has it's good and bad points and it's really hard to know which is the best system as…

Hi All I have a Scantronic 9600 system, and the main keypad has developed a fault with the tamper switch on the back - resulting in it setting off every few seconds, as it believes it is being tampered with. I know the whole system has been discontinued, but this is resulting in my fitter suggesting two new keypads and a control unit, at about £480! Can anyone advise how likely I am to be able to just get a replacement keypad somewhere (and where? and whether it'll just be plug and play?) Or, alternatively, is this a known fault - and if I remove the keypad and take it to an electrician, is there any chance he'll be able to replace or fix the switch on the…

Can I ask you guys. Why do you insist on taking the mick out of the £7.50 a month alarm. Whats actully wrong with it? A*T do a £99 alarm which if you spread it over 16months its like £6.19 a month? Which basically all they are doing is a finance offer with the customer to spread the cost. They do Finance Offers with a lot customers as you may know that a £300+ alarm can be expensive but spreading that over 12/14/16/24 months can then seem more flexible and might mean you actully secure your property.

Hi all, I have an ADT system which was installed when I moved in by the previous owner 4 years ago. The display is now showing adt bat mis 0001 and also manager reset code required. I do have that code but I don't know what to do? I have read that it's most probably the battery that needs replacing. Can anyone please advise and if it is battery, where can I buy replacement from? Thanks

Hi, I have a site with two Honeywell VCL PTZ domes (Orbiters). The domes run back to a 8/2 maxcom & are controlled via a Honeywell (VCL) keyboard. The camera's are not often moved but if moved during the day occasionally in the morning one of the camera's picture is whited out. If you press any preset button then the picture comes back (Obviously this seems like an Iris issue) I have ensure both camera's are sync'd (Via the VCL menu) I have seen this a few times previously and was wondering if anyone had a any advice / solutions? Thanks in advance

  11. Morning Gents, A customer of mine has a Vista (H264) Quantum Dvr (The smaller dvr with no buttons on the front of the unit, everything is mouse controlled) The issue i have is the unit has started rebooting itself 10+ times a day & the customer is not a happy bunny. The PSU is an external 12v one which i have changed (Made sure it was 12V 5amps). I have not changed the Hard drive . I told the customer to remove the LAN connection out of the back of the DVR, this apparently reduced the number of times it rebooted itself... to an odd time. The problem is the customer uses the remote view on his IPhone so need to resolve this. As far as I’m aware the unit ha…
