Hello, I have recently purchased a Hercules 10 zone wired alarm and everything has gone great except one thing, when i test all detectors, door contactors and bell box, everything works fine apart from bell on the bell box. Can anyone shed any light on the situation as its very frustrating because the strobe is responding fine yet the bell does not sound upon testing ! Wez

I'm looking for a little guidance on a system for a DIY install. I'm competant in domestic electrics, very experienced in IT and also had many years of IP comms and ethernet structured cabling experience. So I think I can manage an alarm install (with a bit of reasearch and advice!) I live in a rural location. In a 3.5 acre secluded plot with a couple of reasonably close neighbours. Am told there's zero history of break in around here. My property is impossible to see from any roads and down a tiny track. However, there is a first time for everything and it is isolated and would be vulnerable if someone knew we were out and wanted to have a go. Time for an alarm, I th…

Can't find these anywhere.... Not sure if they are specific to honeywell galaxy or ADT or both. Maybe not recently, but I recall seeing a single socket blanking plate sized unit with large (maybe 10mm) LEDs in a traffic light configuration (red, yellow, green) which reflect the status of the alarm I could make one, but can't find the actual item described above anywhere. Anyone know what they are known as / have any further info. Dan I posted this question on another DIY forum but drew a blank, the best I got was a suggestion that they are called 'alarm status boards' Anyway, I bought some single blanking plates and LEDs and built 5 of my own, but I'm still cu…

  6. Hi All, I was wondering if anyone can assist with some wiring help on a Risco GT601 Panel and iwise 815DTG3 PIR sensor system. Basically, this alarm system has been removed from one unit to be reinstalled into another unit by myself. I did not install this originally nor am i an alarm engineer, but i figure if the sensor are wired back the way they were removed, then it should work or at least need minimalfuss to get it going. I left all the wiring attached to their respective parts and just cut off a foot of wiring to preserve the way it was installed. New wiring was then used in the reinstall, following the same colour configuration as before. My querey is this. O…

Hi guys, Was looking through the logs on the house alarm (euro mini) and there is a lot of "set failed" however the alarm is setting (logs show when the alarm is unset in the morning). Any ideas as to what this could be? There is also what looks like a "c" on the display when the system is unarmed, it's exactly like the symbol for a closed input. Should it be there? Not sure if that's what is causing set failed but I'm not sure, see pics below.

  11. Hi I have fitted a avtec 264 h dvr I have set up a dynds account they have sent me a line and using eagle eyes I have tried to make contact with my dvr but all I get is ip not accessable. In network on the dvr in DDNS setting I have written a host name, entered the user name registered with dydns, entered a password that I have kept a record of and set the dns server to dydns_free and set the port to 80. The line dydns gave me is my host name plus.dydns-free.com I enter this into eagaleyes in ip address, set port to port 80, set user name to the one registered with dydns and put the password in thats on my dvr and the title I give it is dvr. when I try to make contact eag…

  12. I've fitted a Honeywell Accenta Mini G4 with two AG6 bellboxes, however, in the past few days I have also fitted an Informa Speech Dialler. Problem is, is that I want to put the Informa through its paces with real world alarm activations but without the bellbox sounders being activated. So, without having to climb out onto the roof to manually disconnect the piezo sounders or batteries within, is it possible to disconnect the bellboxes from the control panel to allow me to conduct a real world test without annoying the neighbours. I was under the impression that once I'd entered the engineer code it would allow me to remove the control panel frontage but it didn't a…

Dear All, I just installed UTC Security Advisor Advanced system with ATS1000A-MM control panel, ATS1135 keypad, AS210N internal siren, external siren, magnetic switches and motion detectors. Problem is that when I power up the system display says "UTC fire & security RAS1135.V10" on top row and bottom row it says "Press X". When I press X or any other button nothing happens. On control panel board RX and TX led’s are blinking continuously and one red led is blinking in the middle of the board (I guess this is some sort of failure led even though it’s not mentioned in manual). On keypad there is no status led active. I’ve set the dip switches in keypad to RAS1 …

Hey. apologies in advance if this is the wrong section but I couldn't find a more relevant one. My question is in regards of security placement: When installing an intruder alarm, is there a specific height off the ground that the panel has to be? Or is it mostly a rough estimate for wherever feels most comfortable height for the user? I am aiming this question towards the professional installers as they are fitting it for a client as opposed to themselves. surely there must be a general guideline of some sort. I want to ask the same question about door locks / deadlocks / door chains etc. Is there a specific height that they must be installed? I imagine with …
