Hi All, I have a self installed (4 years ago) Scantronic I-ON40 running firmware 2.02.01 with a brand new 7Ah battery and brand new bell box battery. My problem is that after a prolonged power cut (over 24 hours, of which I've had a couple recently) when the backup battery runs flat the alarm starts sounding, which is beginning to annoy my neighbour. This happens even if the alarm was not 'set' when the battery fails. I cannot stop the alarm sounding (except by going up a ladder and disconnecting the bell box battery) because the keypad panel is obviously dead (no power). Does anyone have any suggestions/modifications I can make to avoid this, or is it nor…

Happy Christmas After a heavy down pour and some thundering and lightning I arrived home to find the above bell box clicking like a Geiger counter, An electrician on site where I work said its the lightning sending it tizzy. It stopped clicking after a while. The status l.e.d is static and normal and testing confirms its o.k including strobe and normal sounding siren.I know water ingress can be a problem but today's heavy rain had no effect all is well. Its about a year old and fitted well to the outside of my house. Alarm panel normal yale HSA 500 old girl normal. Any ideas.

I bought a security system, house is prewired for it and I am trying to install it. I build computers and get along with technology pretty well but I cant find any simple instructions that tells me how to wire the thing. All I want to know at this point is: Where to stick which wires! The attached is my board but mine does not have the cellular add on o ignore that portion for now please. I know where the battery, ac and siren connect to. I do not know where to connect the extenders, zones or keypad wires. If someone could simply label what each connection is for in lamens terms that would be AWESOME as I should be able to figure everything else out. …

Can anyone tell me where I can buy the replacement battery? Also I can see a manual comes with new boxes. Is this available as a PDF any where online? Thanks for any help. Regards Darren

I have posted this question as a comment to an earlier thread. Please excuse me putting it in here as well but I see the possibility of the earlier thread being dormant. I have a Delta 6 bell box. It was installed in my old house. Now I've moved and want to re-install it, with a new wireless control panel. Before choosing a suitable hybrid control panel ( because the Delta 6 needs cabling in) I want to be sure the bell box works. I have no user instructions. Please could someone advise where I might get the Delta 6 user manual or suggest a way of checking the bell box out in advance? By the way, the on-board battery still functions - the LEDs pulse when the Tamp microswi…

Hi, I have a Scantronic I-On 40 and want to know if I can make use of the Outputs from it to turn on my two IP security cameras. The IP securtity cameras are connected to a POE (power over ethernet switch), so I just need to turn power on to the POE switch when the alarm is set. The alarm has four outputs: O/P 1 - 2: Voltage free, single pole relay contacts rated 24VDC @ 1A. O/P 3 - 4: Open collector transistor, +12VDC when inactive, 0V when active. 500mA max. Is the best way to wire up a relay to one of the outputs and use the relay to turn on power to the switch? Can you point me to a suitable relay? Many thanks

I'm playing around with a Premier Elite 12-W at the moment, and I didn't want to spend money on a USB-COM cable. Turns out that normal FTDI USB->TTL serial cable works fine. If you look at the com ports on the panel, the pins are: Pin 1 – 12V Pin 2 – nothing Pin 3 – GND Pin 4 – Receive Pin 5 – Transmit And on FTDI: Pin 1 – GND Pin 2 – Don’t care Pin 3 – Don’t care Pin 4 – Transmit Pin 5 – Receive Pin 6 – Don’t care So connect them like so: Texecom – FTDI Pin 3 GND – Pin 1 GND Pin 4 Receive – Pin 4 Transmit Pin 5 Transmit – Pin 5 Receive My most recent blog post is about this, it has some additional photos.
