I Can't Get Remote Viewing Working Over The Internet

Featured Replies

Hi I have fitted a avtec 264 h dvr I have set up a dynds account they have sent me a line and using eagle eyes I have tried to make contact with my dvr but all I get is ip not accessable.
In network on the dvr in DDNS setting I have written a host name, entered the user name registered with dydns, entered a password that I have kept a record of and set the dns server to dydns_free and set the port to 80.
The line dydns gave me is my host name plus.dydns-free.com I enter this into eagaleyes in ip address, set port to port 80, set user name to the one registered with dydns and put the password in thats on my dvr and the title I give it is dvr.
when I try to make contact eagle eyes states ip not accessable.
The router is a 2wire bt bussiness hub that bt have switched on port forwarding on port 80 and have allowed two way traffic on this port I have spent many hours trying to get this to work any ideas.
By the way the line dydns sent me has a hyphen not a underscrore as it is written on the avtec in eagle eyes I have tried hyphen and underscore with no success.

No you just need port 80 if I was using email notification I would use port 21 as well but I am not.

Port 80 is normally open anyway

I am not familiar with the product as most will not be on here. You post is confusing mainly because you are using the brand name assuming that everyone will know what you are talking about. Can you reword your post using DVR for the recorder Client Software for the Client thanks

Just to add I would be trying to set it up using the public IP to test it before going down the DNS route once you have it working set up the DNS (thats assuming that you are not trying to program the DNS into the DVR

Because its a bt bussiness hub its not as staightforward as lets say a netgear router. with respect to the dvr I doub't theres anything wrong with it I think its down to the bt router.

try changing the port on the DVR to 7000 or something and then setup a port forward on the router for that too.

BT Home hubs are a right PAIN and don't like port 80 being used most of the time.

2Wire BT hubs are a pain.

Had them not like port forwarding due to DVR not giving out a "PC Name"

Break it down.

Can you access router from external?

Can you access DVR locally?

Crossover into a laptop, to check DVR works?

etc etc...

Work out which part of the "link" doesn't work.

If you need to check ISP blocking use a port scanner.

BT business hubs are simple to port forward it almost does it for you
