  1. Hello all. Hoping the good folk on here can spare me a little time and some of their expert advice. As the title suggests, my questions are concerning the Ganz ZC-NH403P CCTV camera. I have just been given Three of the aforementioned cameras, they're all used and are all in external weatherproof cases containing transformers. Whilst the cases themselves are suffering from the effects of years of being weather beaten, the camera's themselves look to be in good condition. I realise that these camera's are far from being the newest thing out there, but as I have come by them for free, I thought I might be able to make use of them. (Thats where you guys come in !!!) My …

Hi all. First post, so please be gentle! I fitted a Texecom Premier 48 a few weeks ago to replace an aging Scantronic 9800. The system is up and working perfectly, except for one thing. When the system is armed, I have programmed both the entry and exit tones to come from the remote keypad sounders only. This works fine, except that when I arm the system and open the front door to leave, in addition to the keypad tone, I also get a loud intermittent tone coming from the internal speaker that is connected to the panel. This only happens for the duration of time that the door is open, then goes back to just the keypad sounders for the remainder of the exit delay. I have t…

  3. Hi All I am having a trouble, if i connect a hardwired IR detector to zone 29, it works on the home setting, ie motion doesn't set the alarm off, however in away mode, after entering the property and passing through the detector, the alarm is set off, zone 29 is definately set to interior-follow, does anyone have any ideas as to why ? Many Thanks JohnnyD

Hi Another newbie looking for some advice please. I have 4 540TVL Sony Super Hads which I’m quite pleased with. They are wired in with RG59 0.7mm solid copper core with a good copper braid. My longest run is 35m and I can’t see any signal loss when connected directly to the TV. I did have a dvr http://www.spycameracctv.com/spycamera/usb-video-capture-device-with-windows-pc-dvr-net-access-cctv-software but it had a 7 second delay from motion detection until the start of recording which made it useless as the subject had gone by the time it decided it was ready to record. Unfortunate, as it was only £70 and everything else appeared to be ok. So, the DVR is now gone. T…

  7. Started by stubs,

Does anyone on here have any experience with the Chiron Iris 850? I've currently got a Texecom dialler installed at home, but it doesn't do SMS so I started to look around for an alternative. I happened to hear about the Chiron Iris, just as I spotted one advertised on a popular auction site, brand new for a very low price. If it is a good product, could anyone also reccomend a good SIM deal that I could use. I only want it to alert myself by SMS of any alarms, and accept incoming SMS requests. Is PAYG the best option, or are there any deals with free SMS to an opted number? Many thanks, Stu

  8. Hi again, I'm not really sure if this it the correct place to ask, but I thought id try with it being semi-security related. Basically I've recently had a lot of deliveries to my home address and not been around to get them. Delivery drivers seem to be ignoring my hand written requests to leave parcels with the house across the road. It got me thinking about my days working for an AV company where I came across a GSM intercom on a very large home we worked on. I've had a look around and they seem to cost approx £300-400. This is a bit more than I could get past the wife for a "doorbell" so wondered if there's any cheaper way to achieve the desired result. Does anyone…

  9. I have a minor problem that I would appreciate some insight on. I have a Texecom Premier alarm panel running in grade 3 mode with Rokonet AM detectors (both 'quads' (dual pyros) and DTs) with AM enabled. The detector LED pins are connected to a LED control output on the panel and the set/unset pins are connected to a custom output which which places the detector the in the set condition when the area is armed, the walk test is activated or the exit timer activated; the remote test then breaks this temporarily to trigger the remote test on the detector. All of this works perfectly and the detector test in Wintex correctly reports that the sensors are correct. However, fr…

  10. Hi, I have bought a couple of heavy duty roller shutter contacts to install on my garage door at home (similar to this: http://www.diy-alarms.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=108&osCsid=0dca2faafe650bf9927976d609abbd23) Whilst I'm aware I need to join them to the 8 core alarm cable that I've run using a tamper junction box, I'd like to ask a couple of questions regarding standard practise for installing these type of contacts; What it the best way to attach the magnet to the garage door? Pop rivets, or nut & rounded head bolt? Or something else? Should I use p-clips screwed to the floor/wall to secure the armoured cable before it meets the junction b…

Sorry if this is a dumb question! We have the Optima XM system which has, over the past couple of days, sporadically (two or three occasions) sounded due to a tamper condition. I don't have time to fully investigate until the middle of the week - as a short term fix, can I remove the two wires from the tamper terminals? Can I leave the terminals empty? If not, there is a U shaped piece of metal attached to the panic alarm terminals and a spare one sat loose inside the control panel - can I use that in the tamper terminals? TIA for any advice )

  14. Hello everyone. Hope there is someone here who could help me out with a problem with my alarm system. It is a Galaxy 2-12 system. Fitted by ADT before i moved in. Asking ADT for advice or to fix the problem isnt an option as they want too much money and im not working. Alarm display was saying "Master Reset Required" I did have a guy from ADT once who gave me a code and showen me how to do it. But i cant remember. On the peice of paper he gave me it says to 1: Enter my code 2: Go to "Modify" 3: Enable LV3 user access 4: ESC to menu 5: Put me code in. Ive tried this but now its stuck in Engineer mode and i cant get out of it. Can anyone help me get this alarm b…

  15. Dear all, Can I first start with a thank you to all those who have posted on here in the past I've found may useful answers to previous questions, however this time I'm stuck so I need to ask for some help! I've got a Gardtech 595 system which usually works fine for me, however the other day the carbon monoxide detector went off (due to something in the kitchen - another story) my wife thought it was the smoke detector so in trying to stop it too the smoke detector off to take the battery out! That in turn set of the tamper circuit on the intruder alarm - at this stage I got a phone call as two alarms were sounding! Anyhow, to cut to the chase, I have since fixed the…
