Hi We have a Gardtec 350, when we had a new door fitted a few years back the contact got broke and i never got round to getting the alarm guys out to fit a new one. I called for a quote the other day and they gave me an astronomical price. I bought a contact off ebay, exactly the same as my old one, thinking i could just open up another one in the house and copy the wiring. i thought wrong. The wiring to this one has more wires, plus the ones that are the same colour go to different points. The old contact was there and some wires in it but 3 had come out. Can anybody point me in the right direction? all i have is wire colours, can anybody work with that?

Hello All, I have fitted an Infinite Prime Wireless alarm system to a friends house. All went well but I am struggling to work out how to program the Partial Alarm setup. In Partial Alarm I need to be able to allow the user to come downstairs from their bedrooms, walk cross an armed living room and hall (both PIR's) to the control panel. In Full Alarm use these living room and hall PIR's are set to alarm immediately but for Partial Alarm I want them to be an Entry/Exit zone and a Follower zone respectively. I can't seem to figure out how to program the PIR's/Controller to act differently in Full and Partial arm modes.... In previous alarm installs (different manufact…

Hi, I had bought a property about 6 months ago which already have ADT alarm "Ademco Microtech Galaxy 8 Plus CP171" installed and was used by the previous owners. Obviously before they left, they unsubscribed from ADT. Last week I had a ADT engineer visit and he offered that alarm is already installed and can be directly activated for monitoring (but No police calls) for 25 pounds per month. Yesterday night my 2 years ki randomly pressed some buttons and it started beeping showing "Alarm is active" on the keypad. I called ADT and they said either I have to subscribe with them or have to get the alarm ripped off from my local electrician or leave it the way it is. He told…

I have a G2-20 system which is finally set by magnetic contacts located within the final exit door. I am about to replace the door and am looking to install a means of setting the system without the need to have magnetic contacts in the door. Currently I start the setting process by using a proximity tag at the keypad and then close the mag contacts in the final exit door within the delay period, Qu. Does anyone know of an external proximity detector which I could mount on the wall next to the final exit door which I could program to be used with the same tag I use to start the setting process so I can close the door and then finalise the set with the same tag. I wan…

  5. Hey Guys I just had a new alarm installed. I will be adding an extra keypad when it arrives - a Eurosec CP8L LCD. The extra keypad will be used upstairs in my house for part setting at bedtime: http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/security-accessories/4930898/ the cable is all in situ (4 wires) from the panel to the new keypad location and the installer told me all I need to do is to parallel the new keypad across the existing one: D1 D2 OV +12V My question is in the wiring notes the manual says "The 680Ohm resistor (provided) must be fitted across 12V &D1 at the last keypad in line". I only have one keypad zone and just want them both to do the same thing (from diffe…

I'm going to fit a new alarm system to my new place this week, I just put a ADE/Honeywell G4 Accenta (LCD RKP) in but I took it all back out this evening as it is a bit basic for my needs so fitting it for a relative instead. The shortlist for the panels so far are. Texecom Premier 24 with com2400 Castle care-tech euro one Honeywell Galaxy 2-20 & prox key rkp Risco/Gardtec 490x I like the idea of them having a modem, most of the above are can send sms as most of you reading this will probably know, 490x is speech iirc, sms would be the initial preferred method of notification but I can always add a voice dialler at a later date, sms would be really useful as i'm…

  7. Hi, Ive come across a Gardtec 800 model alarm at one of my clients and was after some advise. There is an area of the unit that has 3 PIRs and 1 contact which is wired to a remote expander board. These are labeled as zones 21, 22, 23, 24 How can i program them zones like i can do with the other 11 "on board" zones. when i select zone 21+ it errors saying invalid zone. Any help on this would be massively appricated (however you spell it) Steve

  8. I recently disconnected a Mirage quad PIR detector from my Texecom Veritas 8 system in order to redecorate. Now that I have reconnected it and tried to full set the alarm system, I get a recurring 5 beep tone with five of the zone positions showing a red light on the RKP panel. The only zone which does not show red is the PA zone. I have also noticed that none of the three PIR detectors in the system is showing a red light when anybody moves around in front of the detector. How do I progress to find out what has gone wrong? I don't want to unintentionally set off the alarm in case my user code has become inoperative. This is because I would have to set up a scaffold outs…

  9. Started by Alarmed,

Hi Guys I have a DA Systems Abacus 6P panel with a remote keypad. All works fine except it has started occasionally (twice in a week) beeping 4 times (at about 1 second intervals) and displaying 52. The happens when the system is not set. The system seems to work fine when set. The panel battery is brand new too. Any clues on this one? Kind regards and thanks in advance. Robert

INITIAL POWER UP I am trying to set-up a Nexus 8. The manual gives no reference to the battery or the front panel cover, if the battery should be fitted or if the front panel cover should be fitted. It just starts with 1. power up the sytems apply mains power.

Does anyone know if there is there a colour code convention for wiring alarm systems? eg for passive IR detectors. I can see that red and black would be used for +/- 12v which is obvious but say in an 8 or 6 core cable which would be normally used for N/NC and tamper? On my Galaxy system Green -and White are used for the bus A and B but is there a general convention for alarm system wiring.? or is it just a case of being consistent throughout each installation?

Hi all, Need some help for a replacement system! Just moved house and I’m looking to replace my existing wired system, I need to extend the security with vibration/glass break sensors and additional PIR’s on the 1st floor (Accessible from the flat roof). I would like to be able to set a perimeter alarm during the night (Ground floor, vibration/glass break sensors..) As it going to be difficult to run wires I’m looking at a hybrid system. The system would need to cover (wired) 2 door sensors 1 key pad 10 PIR’s Speech and text dialler Wireless component 1 key pad 10 Vibration/Glass break sensors Any recommendation on a panel would be useful? Thanks Bhavesh

  13. Hello all I installed my wired Texecom Premier 24 last year, and since decided to use the feature that allows me to set the alarm when going to bed. So all has gone well so far, except when the alarm is activated the outside bells & strobes dont sound, the only sound I get is from the keypad / panel. I've been googling and going through the Install manual for the past few hours and given up looking for the answer the hard way! So the question is, when I Part Arm my system, how do I get it to sound the bell outside? (By the way everything works perfectly when it is fully armed, all bells & lights). Thanks in advance for anyone who stops and replies with advice.…

  14. Hi all I currently have a self installed Texecom Premier 24 house alarm fitted and working well. However, does anyone know if there is a good application / plug-in that I can integrate with my system to allow me to control it (activate / deactivate / monitor) over the internet? I have a comm module fitted that allows me to connect into the main control unit, but I've never used it (no cables or software), but from what I've read its pretty much just a programming interface and nothing more. I dont want an sms from the alarm, I'd like an e-mail with the details if its been activated while I am away. Surely with the way technology had moved on over the past 10 years comp…
