Assuming this is the best place to post this... What is the official situation with having redcare classic and broadband on the same line? By broadband, I mean ADSL rather than cable... Are they happy partners or not - I never seem to get a definitive answer.. thanks, Andy

  4. Hi All. I am looking to upgrade our telephone system and would like some opinions on the best way forward. Currently we use 7 internal standard copper lines (analogue) for sales incoming calls bundled to one BT number. We use a Meridian System to handle and distribute the calls. We would like to expand the sales line to 10. I am interested in the following 1- Is a VOIP system going the be the way forward? 2- What equipment offer good value and performance? 3- Any particular service provider you recommend? Paul.

I installed the system and all was going well. Is there any disadvantage of using master sockets instead of secondary sockets apart from cost. I have a 2 pair cable that I would like to put two lines down this would normally be done with 2, 2 pair cables but to run another cable would be very difficult I would connect to the two bt sockets and then use master sockets at the other end of the cable. Also are you allowed to run pbx cables and bt cables from there master socket down a multi pair backbone cable. does this make sence?

Hi, Anyone had probs with digis on non-BT lines? Getting multiple signals at the ARC? In one case I had 6 PAs and 9 intruders instead of one apiece. The restores failed completely. Another job couldn't contact the receiver unless I dropped the 1280 prefix but didn't get through every time. When it didn't I could hear a recorded message to the effect that the call could not be connected or the phone may be off the hook and to try later. The first was a Scanny standalone and the second was a Euro Meridian. Both were on Tiscali and had filters fitted. Any thoughts?

  10. Hi there Hopefully you guys can be a bit of a devils advocate for me here. I am having a broadband problem at home and it is as follows - Recently, well over the last 6 months or so, my broadband speed has progressively slowed down. My ISP, Virgin, insist the fault lies with my BT line but I am not sure it does. During the working day, I am lucky if my connection speed goes over 100kbs yet at some times, early in the day for example it shoots over 1.5Mb. One thing that remains constant is my upload speed, always steady at around 350kbs. I am convinced that Virgin is at fault here, their contention ratio must be shocking in my opinion. Also, if BT were at fault wit…

Got a call to go out to tommorow. Scantonic 9752 with plug by line fault. Spoke to c/s and said that there was no line fault apart from the other day when bt where on site. So stu ok. fault would not clear, just kept coming up every time the customer tried to set? Im just wondering am I right in thinking that if the GSM has dropped out then it will share the same line fault relay? Just trying to get ahead of my self before I go out there.

Hi I am replacing a master socket in my house, the previous occupants removed the boxes for some reason and all that was left was the line cable for outside. I need to clarify the correct colour code. The external cable has green, black, orange and white wrapped in plastic to separate them from a further 3 white wires. I was told that the wires used are the white for the A wire and orange for the B wire is this right, any assistance would be greatly appreciated as i wish to avoid paying

hi guys, i got an enquiery (via a telecoms supplier) for a client who wants to transmit the local church band and singers to a local radio station for broadcasting. this is a 'happy clappy' type church which use rock and roll style chior music, not the traditional C of E hymn's and bring a bun stuff. the spec is it has to be fairly good quality to 15khz for the upper end, notional budget hopefully below 2k (which i think is way to low) but is negotiable, depending on the facilities offered by the system. so over to you guys for a comment, i've already done most of the jokes/puns about not a ghostly, you'l have a devel of a job,and i'm in with the spirit off things, ho…

  15. Having a nightmare ADSL install for a client atm, service was activated nearly 3 weeks ago on a new line. I rock up to install the router and check the line itself, connection fine, no noise, correct voltage good dialtone etc Check the ADSL connection and find there's no sync. It's very soon after activation date so leave it for the w/e in case they're a bit behind on the install. Still nothing, contact ISP who say its a network fault and refer it to BT. 72hrs later and I've heard nothing so ring back only to be told that BT responded by saying "check customer wiring" I explain (as politely as I can!) to the ISP call-centre type that that was the *first* thing I did a…
