Anyone come across this problem at all. I am commissioning a new fire alarm system in a hospital. When the fire alarm is activated the staff are unable to use the telephone it seems to lose one of the digits when dailing any internal phone. Does not happen in any other building except the new one. I understand from the trust phone engineer that in the new building cat 5 cables were used. Any thoughts on this problem. The fire alarm sounders are electronic on an addressable system.

Does any body do stuff in the line of call monitoring and recording --- Inbound outbound Software and Hardware -- software pref open source - Hardware - variable .. I work for a few ARC,s globally , also a few control rooms uk wide , always in the past we use asterisk or something via Bt, nortel, cisco , yuxin , But im never happy to pay a 3rd party licence hence the open source option. Im talking anything from 1- 30 channels vox and even higher. Asterisk doesnt always cut it., lets say i wanna have vox recording on something lets say like a 600 calls per second mux/switch - nokia based, lolin

Hello All. Wondering if any one can help me with a issue on my office Pathway system. One day we suddenly lost the use of lines 3 & 4 for no apparent reason. Tried all the usuall things like resetting and reprograming but nothing worked. I have checked the lines and the cabling to the unit and all appeared in order. So, thinking that the board had fried, ordred a new board however the problem still exists. The system phone only shows line 1 & line 2 and when we try lines 3 or 4 it just say "Not Equipped". Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi guys has anyone come across this problem with phone line. I was servicing a customers alarm today came up with comms problem, i asked if they had any trouble with phone, said yes, when it rings and they pick up the phone they cannot hear anyone and can also hear ringing in the background. also no dial tone. I disconnected the alarm from the line and also the two extensions. Plugged phone directly into incoming socket same thing. They do not have broadband installed they have had the line checked by BT but this means nothing in my experiences with BT . Anybody got any ideas.

I was asked to protect a BT cable that was running at reachable height by disconnecting at a junction box, running through conduit and reconnecting. This is the incoming line to the house from the overhead pole. I refused and seem to remember being told that it is illegal to touch anything up to and including the A and B terminals on the NTE5. Can anyone confirm and if possible link to the information. Thanks Glenn

We have a small business with three phone lines and a LKD-30D as the 'master' (excuse my terminology but i am not very communications-savvy!) We want to have a message played when more than three people call apologising for the delay, detailing the website etc, and also a message we can turn on and off when we are out of hours. The instuction manual seems massively over-complicated and I was wondering if anyone could assist. Many thanks

just a quick question, while changing round my phone sockets, i've trodden on the master totally destroying it. as a temporary measure i connected up a slave to see if it would would work. All works fine and i'm gonna replace it today. Am i right in thinking that the slave is lacking the capacitor? and what are the potential problems of this, I know its not right but why?

Some virgin media lines support sms sending with the default msg centre number "17094009" some VM lines dont, Is this something they can enable on the exchange?, they seem to know nothing about sms or any line facilities when I contact them, and wont let you speak to someone regarding line issues etc. Failing that, is there a generic message centre number that is charged at the same rate or less?, obviously its just AT commands being sent over a period of a few seconds, the mobile service centre numbers work but they end up charging you what at the rate of calling a mobile number. Thanks Dale

Firstly I apologize for any stupid questions.... Would I be right in saying if the line is engaged the dialler is unable to connect? Is there any dialler on the market that will "force" a call though if the line is engaged? Should filters always be used if the household has a broadband connection? Is there such a thing as a hard wired broadband filter?
