After some info from the brain-boxes if you can. A bloke who's alarm I look after in his car garage has a mechanical bell wired to the phone line so that it rings when phone rings. Followed cable and it goes straight to master socket (1 wire to either 2 or 5 and the other to 3). This bell still works fine but the problem is he recons that a door bell switch outside the reception also used to make this bell ring when pressed. Now i've looked at the door bell switch and the cable disappears into the cavity never to be seen again. Cant find the other end. Not at any phone points, no jb's anywhere and not going straight to bell. Now what he asked me is a) can door bell be fi…

Can anyone help? Friday night, everything works fine and has done for years. Saturday morning, no dial tone, yet broadband is fine. Tried all extensions. Disconnected all phones and tried a known working corded phone at the master socket - nothing. Disconnected all extensions from the master socket then tried known working corded phone - nothing. BT have tested the line from their end and say it's fine. They say they will get an engineer to me, but if it is not their equipment at fault -

Hello Guys, Getting DSL and 2x SKY boxes installed next week so need to make some changes to the BT installation in the house... Currently have one NTE5 downstairs - from this box I need to install two extension boxes (with built in DSL splitter) upstairs using cable that travels around the outside of the house. Anybody got any advice or information on the type of cable/ext. boxes I need for this? Also, would like to change the master box completely using a new back box and DSL splitter front (I know this isn't "technically" allowed by BT). Many Thanks, Warren

hi all, just thought i'd add a 'fault' note in here, 3 years or so back i fitted a premicell (my only ever one) to a Panasonic KXTD 624, all seemed fine, then i got a complaint that if they dialed out through it occasionally the call failed, but hit redial and it would work fine every time. and again! i went through the settings, changed a few got a further call back as it still did it, phoned help line no suggestions foRthcomming. what the 'problem' actually was and it took a bit of spotting, if the user naturally paused during the dialing sequence then the gsm side dropped the call, it could not handle a natural operator pause. your mobile only dials when you…

I went out to a Redcare in No Response today that BT had apparently tested the line. There was no dial tone or voltage at the block and nothing at the master socket even with the front plate removed to eliminate internal equipment. When I spoke to a lady from BT I asked her where the line had been tested to and she replied 'where its terminated'. Im sure Smart1 will be able to tell me or maybe some other telecoms engineers. Where is it terminated? What does their remote line test actually test, and how does it work? Glenn

Hi, Can somebody recommend a inline filter for my text messenger on my alarm system ( and where to buy it from). I have recently upgraded to 8 meg broadband and I am have trouble with the extension the text messenger is wired into. It hasn`t got a ADSL filter on it and I reckon this might be causing a problem. Never seemed to be a problem with 2 meg. Mike

D-Link are launching a 3g router next year aparently and this will be ideal, but for now some suggestions on how to acess a DVR with ethernet 10/100 or rs232 modem via mobile networks is what i am after, any ideas/advice appreciated.

Sorry, Mods please feel free to move this to a more appropriate section.... Guys, if anyone can help me out i would be greatly appreciative. Ive bought a 8 way Distribution Amp same as this: HERE Now i know the drop cable with the combined signals needs to have a triplex faceplate to decode the 3 combined signals SAT/UHF/FM. Now the 8 outputs to other rooms, do they need to be diplex or triplex outlet plates or can i fit a single tv output plate ??? Anyone got anything related to this subject which may come in handy, or if anyone can recommend any decent RF modulators for my DVR to input into this ?
