Hi wondered if anybody could help me out. We have bought a house and inherited a Scantronic 9448 alarm system. I have the code for the alarm and can set it etc but i'm currently trying to change the facias on a couple of sockets which require me to turn the one section of the mains power off. The problem is it appears as though the alarm is on the same section of the mains, basically when I turn the mini-breaker off the alarm starts going and wont accept the system code. Only if I turn the mains power back and then enter the code will it shut up! I've tried removing the battery from within the panel but that hasn't worked, i've also tried taking the fuse out but that caus…

My house was rewired 20 years ago, how long will it be before I need to have the wiring replaced again? Any help would be appreciated.

I would appreciate any help in wiring up the above. I have successfully replaced two GJD's with new GJD's but there is a separate old and failed sensor - with a separate light also controlled by switches - the wiring for which I would like to connect to a GJD. On the failed sensor there were four wires connected to (i)+ (ii) - (iii) trigger and (iv) day sensor. Not sure which to connect to apart from the + and -. Any help appreciated. Many thanks.

  7. History: An accenta 8 alarm was installed approx 7 years ago by an electrician whom I can no longer find. He installed 7 zones, the last one being a length of 6 core cable hanging out the side of the house ready for a garage which we have never built. Now: Recently the alarm has been sounding with the 'attack' registered in zone 7 (the spare). Also when I went to look at the wire, the alarm started bleeping as I moved the wire in my hands. The ends were covered in a lot of electrical tape which I removed. The yellow and green (fairly sure it's the tamper circuit) were twisted together but I'm not sure about the others which are red/black (power?) and blue and white. I…

I have an issue with an alarm which is driving me mad. The bell and downstairs light circuit are on the same fuse from the consumer unit. The fuse blew on this circuit due to a problem with a downstairs light but when this fuse was replaced there is no power going to the alarm. The lights all work fine but just nothing to the alarm. As I say, the bell and lights are on the same circuit so its not a faulty fuse. I am now contemplating taking the consumer unit out and looking behind to see if the cable has fell loose but I dont believe that is the case as everything was fine until the fuse popped! Any suggestions?

We had to work around this live board today when routing cables up a service duct. Special points to note include the flex wrapped around the conduit and the SWA literally hanging out of the bottom of the fuse holder, earthed with an EC15 earth clamp. God knows what they were feeding, we didn't stay in there long enough to find out...

  15. It seems I bought a control panel that connects to all sorts of types of bellbox, and subsequently it can connect to the Texecom bellbox in a number of ways. The Texecom is of the A,B,C,D & S connection type, and the ST6100, well...it appears to be fairly notorious on this forum so I won't list the terminals. I would like to ask the experts here in which manner you would connect the two, for fully functional operation including connection to the Tamper Loop with the PIRs? Thanks In Advance, Si
