He has not got a spur, it is connected directly to the consumer unit (not Recommended) SO it can only be a loose connection in the panel or the fuse box.

Or a cable fault of course.....

Unlikeley to be a cable fault in the 6 inches of cable between the panel and the consumer unit, and as he has stated it has no spur it is fed from the consumer unit 6 inches away i think it is unlikeley there is a spur under the floor above. Has to be a broken core in the cable between a and b in my book, probably snapped off the fuse terminal inside the consumer unit due to screw being over tightened.

I think I'd call that a cable fault.............. (broken core caused by over-tight screw)

but im thinking that it could be a hidden spur under the floor maybe :hmm::whistle:

have seen this done before.

Why??

Already stated, it is connected direct to Con unit so no hidden spurs. If the op is competent with electrics this should be easy to check, but the fact that the question was asked would suggest otherwise.

If not competent i really would suggest getting somene in who is. Not worth the risk whee safety is concerned.

Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional

no offence, but if the op was that confident with electrics he wouldnt have needed to ask the question in the first place
