Hi I wonder if somebody can help i have got a problem with the keypad on a veritas R8. Last night the internal siren went off about 6.00am, thinking we had a intruder ran downstairs and discovered it was false alarm. Tried to reset the alarm on the remote keypad none of the keys would work also the unsett and tamper lights were off although the back light on keypad was ok. The only way to silence the internal siren was to take the battery out and turn off from mains, when i did this, by turn the power off the external siren went off, after 20 minutes that stopped . I have had the battery checked and it is reading above 12.5v also the internal fuses in the main box a…

Hi, Can you help, Moved into new house with a Accenta 8 alrm system. The house has been empty for 9 months with the mains off. Turned on mains alarm went off, put in the code given to us, would not stop. Called installer, they've gone bust. In the end I took the fuse out. I was told it was probably due to battery being flat as mains off for so long. Bought new battery no sooner do I connect it but the alarm activates and does not stop when code is entered. I don't have an operating manual so don't know if I'm doing it all wrong or whether there's a fault... please help

Hi My Optima 2 Plus recently stopped arming itself. I don't think it's broken - more likely, it's just in a different mode. It was serviced quite recently. Originally, we'd type the code and it'd do a series of beeps, one low then one/two high beeps till we leave the house and it's armed. Now, we hear a series of a low beep then 3 x high beeps. This doesn't stop if we leave the house and return later. We've also tried dancing around the movement sensors (which do seem to work) for several minutes and still don't trigger the alarm once we've tried to set it. Does anyone have any idea about what this could be and how I could get the alarm back to arming itself? Tha…

I hope you can help me I have just moved to Yorkshire and I want to have 2 alarms installed; 1 at home and 1 at my business premises. I have spoken to 2 local alarm companies, but I am not sure if I have been given good advice. The problem is to do with the entry door. I am told that if the burglars break in through this door the alarm will not send a signal to the alarm centre. (One surveyor said that it would signal after 30 seconds. The other one said it wouldn't signal at all. Is he right? I don't know) They said I can't have a special lock fitted because of the type of doors and that the only other way is a keyfob. It all seems very complex. What should I do? A…

I have an Accord XPC which has been working fine for a couple of years. However, last week we left the alarm on whilst we were away and it activated twice during this time. No one had entered the premises so they look like false activations. Now when I view the alarm log, rather than one zone accompanying each beep, for the first 2 beeps, I get a continous list of zones from 3-8, then 4-8 displayed. The weird thing is my alarm only has 5 zone configured. Does anyone know why I'd see zones 6-8 on the log ?? Thanks for anyones help..

Hi I have recently moved into a new house and although we have been given the instruction manual for the alarm (optima xl6), we have not been given the current code. Unfortunately the previous owner passed away and he was the only person who knew the code. I cannot find any contact details for optima. Does anybody have contact details for optima or does anyone know what to do next. Many thanks Sarah

We just had some new smoke alarms fitted (had an extension built) and the engineer advised us have a new battery for the burglar alarm. It had been in since 1991 when it was fitted by the previos owner. The alarm is on 'day', we hardly ever put it on. Now on the outside box the lights come on/go off almost all the time. I have already phoned up the company which fitted the alarm (new owner) who is not really interested in coming out. I have tested the alarm and that was okay. Could we just take the battery out? Thanks for any help.

Hi all, I am in the process of selecting a company to install a new intruder alarm into my home. I have had three quotations (one from a supplier from the list on this site, one a big local company from a recommendation, and the third from a one man band located through two independent personal recomendations) and all have one or more aspects that would seem to conflict with the general wisdom that I have picked up from this site. Now my understanding of the general opinion here may be wrong so please correct me if required. Location of control panel ========================= All three installers have quoted installation of the control panel in a built in downstairs …

Hi everyone, I finished changing over my alarm panel at the weekend. I have to say it was no where near as hard as I expected but I did find some alarming (excuse the pun!) practice by a local "reputable alarm installer". here's how I went about it, first off I took the lid off my menvier panel and low and as expected the lid tamper went off, whacked the code in and then it shut up. next step was I wrote down the colour of the cables and what they did and labelled the white bit of the wires too so I knew what was what. Then I proceeded to kill the 230v power supply, yes I know I should have done this first but I forgot! then I disconnected the 12v panel battery expe…
