Hi I have an optima xm alarm which is intermittently activating both in the set and day modes with tamper being the reported fault. I thick I may have a suspicious PIR which has a loose cover (can come off if knock but does activate alarm) which may be the route of the problem. Any thoughts with this problem and assistance with replacing the PIR would be grateful.

Hi Struggling a little with an Optima XL6. Engineers code is lost, though I do have the user code. To restore the thing to its default and therefore its default engineers codes I have to remove the wiring from a couple of terminals, link one terminal to another, power up (correct lights go on), remove the link and reinstall wiring to its original terminals (correct lights on again), then put the lid on. Once the unit returns to day, the manual claims that "at that moment the NVm will be cleared and factory set conditions will apply". This bit doesnt do what it says on the tin, and the default engineers code does not work, the alarm simply bleeps and returns to day. …

Hi everyone, I have just bought my texecom premier alarm panel and am about to pull the old menvier system out. HOwever I have a couple of queries. 1. If I leave my ts700 in engineer mode and then disconnect both the mains and the battery will the siren go off? Its an SAB type, but don't know the manufacturer. 2. If the answer to the above is yes. is there a way to do it without the siren going off? or to shut it up? or should i just leave it and wait for the battery to go flat? I was considering the running up the ladder route but was a bit put off by horror stories of strobes and electric shocks! I was just wondering how the pros do it, as the batteries in the sire…

My Ademco Microtech Galaxy 16+ fails to arm, and whenever this is attempted message "Unable to set: Power failure" displays in the keypad window. I read elsewhere on this website that a duff backup battery may be the cause, and sure enough checking the original 12v 7ah battery (now four years old) revealed only 10.77 volt DC. I have therefore replaced it with a brand new one that was delivered fully charged, but the alarm system still fails to set and gives the same message. Checking the transformer shows a supply voltage of 246v AC but an output voltage of only 0.4 volt DC so I suspect this is the cause. Please will you be kind enough to advise a suitable replacement…

Can you help? Last week we had several localized power cuts affecting the whole street. I came home on the Wednesday night to find the keypad display was asking for an Engineer Reset. I called my original installer and he came that night to reset. I was also a due for my service and paid him accordingly. All was fine when he left.. However 3 days later on the Saturday I went away for the weekend and come home on the Sunday night to turn off my alarm. The count down wouldn

Hi, great site, lots of usefull info. I have a Scantronic 9448+ driving a CEQURA 2 SAB on the front of the house. I have all the user manuals and engineer codes so can disable the system to do walk tests, measure battery charge/discharge volts and change programme options at the control panel. My question is, when my panel is in engineering mode, will this also disable the CEQURA SAR, I would like to check its battery, but dont want it going off in my ear when Im up a ladder! Thanks

I have just moved into a new house that has a Veritas 8c installed. I have the code that the previous owners left but don't really understand the unit at all. I tried to set it for the first time last night and I will try and recall the chain of events... I pressed "PART" which is everything I had been told was necessary to set the system. My wife then said "you'd better have a look at the panel properly" and lifted the top flap which set the alarm off. I punched in the code which turned the alarm off but now it has lit a red light marked "24HR" that I can find no mention of anywhere. I waited for a while before leaving to make sure it was Ok then left for the evening…
