Hi All About a year ago I moved into a flat which has an Accenta G3 alarm fitted. It's always worked perfectly, but when I returned from work yesterday I found the alarm blaring and several annoyed neighbours at my door. After careful inspection I can't work out what triggered the alarm - no pets, nothing had fallen over and certainly no intruders. What concerns me is that the alarm rang for six hours. Does anyone know if it's possible to tell the alarm to shut off automatically (after half an hour, say)? I've found the product manual online, but it only explains how to set and reset the alarm etc. The technical manual is protected by a password for installers only. An…

We inherited a Veritas 8 alarm with our house. We have had the alarm regularly serviced. We have also had the battery replaced twice (in 2.5 years) and a sensor due to faults. The battery and a sensor were recently replaced by the engineer because the alarm is going off when not even set. The tamper light flashes after the code has been entered but this does switch the alarm off. It sets and unsets fine 99% of the time. The alarm has done it again this morning (this is 4 weeks after the engineer last visited). I know it wasn't set. The tamper light came on after I entered the code. Can anyone give me an idea of what is wrong with the alarm because I'm getting fed up …

I have an optima G3 which I can nolonger set. If I enter the code the attack light flashes. (which I can reset) If I press prog ready to enter the engineers code none of the lights come on. Normally you get a full set of eight. So I cant enter engineering mode. All the normal day functions seem to work except those which need to enter program mode, ie chimes and tamper causing internal alarm. They all reset OK. And the code silences the tamper alarm. Any ideas as to the problem. I am about to try - resetting panel to factory set conditions - but before I do??

Would anyone know wher I can obtain the circuit drwaings for the Optima 2 plus panel. The psu has quite high ripple on it and I can't read all the values of componets. I guess this is why I am getting false alarms.

Can anyone help me?, we had an Optima xm alarm fitted in 1995 but every so often for the last 6 months, it will go off for no reason, even when the alarm is not set, eg in the daytime. The only thing I can think of is it might be the battery?. When I reset it, the tamper light is lit but all the zones are clear. About 2 years ago a carpet fitter cut through all the wires on the stairs, but they got them all reconected by an alarm fitter. When I set the alarm if I press the soldered wires on the stairs the alarm will not go off, so I don't think it is the cut wires that are the problem.Does anyone have any idea's?.

Interesting to read the problems the other guest was having in the previous post... Yesterday I received some useful advice regarding replacing the keypad and panel as a solution to the problem I was having. However.. My keypad also seems to be locked out following activation. I've tried resetting it but have thus far failed. The fact that the previous owners of the house had no instructions for the system hasn't helped. I had previously resigned myself to replacing the components as the lack of instructions plus the age of the system seemed to be making life difficult for an engineer that took a look. I'm now wondering if it is infact possible to trace the fault and r…

Hi, as usual with newbies to a forum, I have a problem!? Just moved into a new house and tried to set the alarm this morning, however I was typing the wrong number a few times and the alarm ringing. Finally managed to get the correct number which has turned the alarm off but locked out the panel with the Tamper light fixed on. Now I can't set the alarm, it appears the panel is locked out. How can I reset the Tamper and get it working again?

Bit of advice please! Recently bought a house with an old (10+yrs) alarm system installed. Sensors (x3) and bell boxes (x2) seem to be in working order but the keypad and panel are on the blink and since I have no instructions I do not know how to reset. I've had one engineer look at the system and he was of the opinion that the best solution would be to replace the keypad and panel. Does this seem to be the best solution or is there a way to salvage the original equipment? Assuming that I do replace those units, but retain the other circuitry and components what sort of cost should I be looking at? I'll obviously get a few quotes but being new to alarm systems I hav…

Please Please help!! Recently moved house and inherited non working veritas r8 alarm c/w cqr sigma bell. After reconecting wires battery and fuses in main panel the internal alarm is all working well. Unlike the external alarm. On opening the bell box i found both led connectors removed and another connector (sp1 or sp2)removed and both battery wires cut. I have re-fitted all of these (putting the mystery connector on sp1). I have no manual or install instructions for the bell and would appreciate a copy or link to these or if some one could walk me through the commissioning steps if (if any). Would also be helpfull if anyone knows what the bell status is depending o…
