Hi - any help would be much appreciated. I have a Optima XM6 alarm system. I recently switched the mains power off to do some other electrical work and when i switched it back on, the power light came on but would do nothing else!!! Anyone have any idea what it could be? I didn't touch any of the alarm cables when I did my electrical work. Thanks.

recently i had a power cut which locked out the keypad. I tried resetting it by taking off one of the leads from the battery, now the alarm keeps going off and it appears that my keypad code doesn't work. Can anyone help?

Hi, Setup: Panel = Texecom Veritas Excel Zone 1 = Entry/exit door contact Zone 2 = Door contact and PIR Zone 3 = PIR Zone 4 = 2 PIRs Zone 5 = Door contact and PIR Zone 6 = PIR Zone 7 = PIR Zone 8 = FIRE Heat/smoke detectors I installed the above setup some time ago and it has been trouble free operation since. Wanting to expand the system slightly by adding an additional PIR to Zone 7 and an additional heat/smoke detector to Zone 8, I removed the mains power and added to the system. On powering back up, all appeared ok. However when i tried to full set the panel, Zones 2 to 8 showed as open. Thus not allowing the alarm to set. Having checked, checke…

i've had a bells-only system for 3 years from //.National Installer.//. it has never gone wrong and i've recently cancelled the £15 per mth i was paying - clearly for very little!. They now want to "recover" their system or charge me £617+vat for a galaxy8 system. I cannot imagine they really cost that much. So, where can i buy a new or used Galaxy8? i've already looked on ebay and there is one but want to persue other sellers as well. when i get on, i'll then take great pleasure in asking them to come and collect it! thanks in advance

Hi again, doing several installs at the mo on a larg-ish site, came across a cable to the bell with 2 broken cores. Now , as you all know, I can still get the sounder to operate with only 4 cores, minus the strobe, but my problem is this; the sounder is very quiet, not nearly as loud as an adjacent bell. So I was wondering, do you think that another core ( probably +ve) is also nipped somewhere? therfore not letting enough power through to operate the sounder at full strength? Just as I'm writing this I'm realising a simple resistance measurement across the remaining cores will determine this, doh!!! Anyway, any input gratefull accepted. wired

Hi all, Been using the site to get some advice before I hand over my cash. Ive got a quote for £400+ vat from a guy for : 5 visonic discovery quad PIRS a magnetic contact on front door texecom veritas R8 control panel Texecom odyssey bell unit. firstly does that sound like the right money? secondly has he gone a bit mad with pirs (since i only have a smallish new build 3bed house) - he plans to put one in the kitchen, one in the dining room one in the lounge and one in the hall (every room downstairs except the loo!). Ive got no problem with this if it makes the system better. thirdly should i have a magnetic contact on the back door (or is this not an issue si…

My brother has an Optima XM6 which is ten years old. An intermittant fault started a week ago where the alarm goes off when unset and the tamper light comes on. Appears to be completly random in time, sometimes in the middle of the night or during the day. I turned off the power to see if it was a faulty battery but it appears to power the unit ok. Any ideas. P.S. no work as been carried out around the house recently. Thanks, Steve.

Can anyone help me with a problem I have with my alarm. I have moved into a house with an Optima XM6 installed. It seems to work fine except that if the power supply to the house is cut, the alarm always trips, whether it is set or not. The previous occupant has not left any instructions and I don't know who installed the alarm. Is there a setting I can change to stop this, or what else can I do. Thanks for you help.

Hi there, With the Galaxy range can you programme the alphanumeric display to display the zone that just activated the chime? This facility is standard on the Karizma range (displays zone that activated the chime for around 15 seconds) but can the Galaxy do it? Stoat

I recently had a problem with my alarm system (Veritas R8 Plus) after a bulb blew and tripped the fuse. On resetting the fuse I noticed zone 1 was lit on the keypad and the keypad itself was completely dead (the bellbox light was also flashing but no alarm sounding). I've since managed to get the keypad working zone 1 is no longer lit and the light on the bellbox is no longer flashing. In the process though I've activated the tamper so cannot now set the alarm. The original installer is unfortunately not welcome after upsetting my wife on an earlier late night visit when we had a problem so I'm not sure what to do. Any advice would be very welcome. Souljim
