I have a Protec algotec panel on site which has a faulty detector , there are no address switches on it so a replacement would require pre programming I would assume , does anyone have experience of theses systems. Also of the 5 systems we have on site all of them have incorrect zone allocations or none at all , is this only changeable by a down load via a lap top? Thanks Brendan

Hi, Was on a site this week with a Notifier ID2000 8 loop panel. I had Sounders and all Outputs disabled. Zone 1 in test mode, had tested around 20 smokes no problem Then I wondered into another zone (not on test) and smoked a detector.........Bells sound even though disabled. Is this a common S/W problem with these panels or a deliberate feature? Just wondered if anyone has had any similar experiences with this This site has had some odd loop probe before, but not with isolations such as this in advance Dom

Hi there I have been asked to install a fire alarm at a farm building out in the middle of nowhere, the client is turning it into a b&b, they have been advised that they need a fire alarm system i have not been told yet what category anyways he has said to install wireless detectors throughout, but i know that building is made out of a iron based stone, my father has previously installed a wireless base station in there house for them and the signal was shockingly poor (it would only work with devices in the same room as it) so i ask do you have to follow the fire officers exact requirements of a wireless system where in this situation it would be a complete waste o…

We have a problem with one of our loops which we can't get to the bottom of. Basically, we get frequent false alarms on any of the call points on the loop. If i view analogue point values on any of the devices I get condition and Id's fluctuating all over the place. Devices often go into fault then clear again. Ive tried splitting the loop to narrow down the problem but i've found that this only creates more faults on the loop. I've proven this by disconnecting the whole loop and connecting one detector directly into the panel. With both ends of this loop connected, the device is stable when viewing analogue values. If i disconnect one end of the loop i see Conditi…

Could you recommend a make of detector for a domestic to go with a G2-44 panel? What have you used which has had good relability? I am in the process of reading up on different detector types and how they should be installed. Purpose is a peace of mind thing, so that I can be notified if somethings goes snap crackle pop.

Hi all, My first post on here so hopefully I'll include all the relevant info, if not feel free to flame ! I recently extended a fire alarm circuit on a 'Surveyor S1' fire panel and now need an end of line resistor to match the panel. The panel appears to be well past its best (very old) and searching on the web hasnt revealed any more information. Have any of you more experienced installers ever seen one of these panels and know the specific type of resistor I would need ? And if so, where would you suggest sourcing one ? I'm beginning to think that a panel upgrade is needed ! Thanks in advance. Anthony

Called out today to an eight zone Sigma CP K fire panel that has a intermittent Earth Fault that can last for a few hours or a few seconds. No zone or sounder fault led's operate just the general fault led. All earth connections have been disconnected but still the fault, any ideas? Could the fault be caused by the mains earth?

Hi I am commissioning a job at that moment , which i have found when testing the sounders 2 of the 4 loops are coming up as open cct on load. The panel is an advanced MX4400 with loop sounder beacons with isolators on every detector with about 30 loop sounders per loop. However i could no carry on testing and look into it further as the site would not let me at the time. However I am going back Wednesday to look into it further. Has anyone else come accross these issues and what was the result Thanks Brendan

Hi all, quick query about fire, intruder, cctv and access control maintenance sheets. I used to work for two larger companies but am now working for a smaller company which is trying to improve and expand. One thing I've noticed about the new company is the maintenance paperwork. It's looking very dated compared to the specific sheets I used to have at ADT and the other firm. I want to give my boss a template for these maintenance sheets as I've got rid of any I used to have. Also does anyone know of a company that prints the sheets eg. (yellow, blue, green which you write on one and its copied onto all three.... sorry cant think what they'd be called) in north london. …

Hello. I have been requested by a customer to look in to the possibility of interfacing his existing Minerva MX 1000 to a Building Management System. The customer requires detailed alarms to be transferred from the Minerva in the form of the exact device address where an alarm takes place. Can anyone advise if this is possible? I am not really able to find much information on Tyco's website, they just have a general statement saying it is interface able with a Building Management system, but not how or to what level. What kind of Hardware or Software would I require? Would there be wired - NO/NC outputs from the Minerva system or in some Modbus/Profibus format which I c…
