I have started in a new plant that has Minerva 80 fire alarm control panels. I have tried to get my hands on the user manuals and even a programming guide to get my head around the systemm. Hi, Just have bought a new laptop running windows XP. When trying to connect to fire 2 to 5 panel, I can not establish a connection. I have tried connecting to a fire 5 panel using fire 6.12 and I can connect to the panel and download the information ( so the lead is good). Has anyone else have this problem or does anyone have a solution. My previous laptop had windows 98 and was able to connect and had no problems

Afternoon fellas I am not a fire alarm engineer, however the firm I work for have had a system installed, the system a Morley zx5 panel with apollo detectors has now shown two faults, the first is a 'no rely' and the second is a 'double address'. The system has been working fine and I can't get in touch with anyone to help me explain whats going on! I know its probaly something very simple but this is not in my normal remit, so any help would be greatly welcomed.

Does anyone on this forum have an opinion one way or the other for open or closed protocol systems? I know I do.

Hi all, Got a call today to look at the above as it had a fault showing, arrived on site and the panel is beeping away, zone lights and general fault flashing away, if I disable all the zones the fault can be cleared but liven up any of the zones and the fault's back (only zones 1+2 are in use). I'm guessing the panel's dead unless anyone has any ideas? When I got there the front was off the panel, in the bottom of the panel were 4 resistors, Do you know if a couple of these should be in the unused zones, tried putting them in and it seemed to have no effect, but didn't try disabling the in use zones. Did try putting the resistors in all the zones with the wires for zone…

while I am qualified to design a fire alarm, I do not belive i am qualified to decide on the catagory. Im seeing more and more phrases like 'whats the minium i can get away with' etc and then the responsible person making the risk assesment fit an M system etc. Also other electrician type companies never mention a catagory on the quote, and the client hasnt a clue. It also seems a few are just doing L5 regardless. How do you advise your clients what catagory they need, or dont you etc. And if like me you remove yourself from the topic of risk assesment, how is the client supposed to decide on a catagory? Obviously we cant advise else we risk the 'bad advise' problem wh…

ADT Minerva panel. Addresssable sounder started playing up recently, showing high ident. When removed the panel showed low ident. If a different device is removed it shows device removed. Any ideas why it shows low ident when this sounder is removed ?? Thanks
