General Fire Alarm Queries

Basic non in depth q+a on fire detection systems to BS5839 part 1+6.

  1. Started by jmsa7,

Hello, Got called for a fault in which a smoke detector was activated twice in a row at about the same time (late in the night/ very early morning) without apparent reason. Building always empty at those times and room with no obvious source of smoke, steam or spray. The smoke detector didn't look dirty. I was advised to replace it so that was what I did. Just wonder what you guys normally do in these situations. Do you just give it a good clean or just replace it? Thank you.

Would this be the correct way to install this system for this type of coverage? Hope this makes sense!! Thanks

Hi, has anyone got any information on the Chubb Zonemaster 404 control panel? Is it a conventional panel? or are the bases and smoke heads unique to that panel. I am trying to replace one of these with a Kentec conventional panel, but when i activate a head with some smoke i get a fault on that zone instead of a fire. I have tried wiring a head and base directly onto the panel, but still get a fault???/ thanks in advance Gary

Not a fan of smokes in intruder tbh, if thecsmokes play up intruder systems credibility is taken down with it, and visa versa . So not something I do or recommend. Arfur
