I visited a customers ground floor shop today with flat above the shop which he is going to start letting out to tennats. At present he has a very very old and faulty 1 zone conventional panel which is fitted in the shop and this has bells throuout the shop and also one in hallway of the flat above. putting elites in a warehouse, 4 rows of discharge lighting, so as to save running silly amouts of cable, was going to feed e lites through 4 relays. Problem is when i switch mcb off, there is still voltage there although lights are off, due to control gear no doubt. Ive not had meter on, or gone any further into looking at it, as it was late enough. Any ideas before i go back to site?

  8. Hi I have a CTEC XFP single loop apollo system with 8 sounders and 7 call points, we have just completed a first service and the event log is full of device fault cleared messagesm in fact 499 in past 2 weeks, however no fault is being logged just the cleared message, the device fault cleared message is always showing as a sounder beacon (CTEC own type used) but is random addresses and at no specific time of day, have ruled out it being a panel problem, but am now some what confused any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a menvier security panel wired to a SD1+, Which is fine. I now have an ZP3 installed and the fire company has supplied me with contacts from their panel. They are using the Ziton ZP3 fire contacts which are about +5v normal and switch to +24 on fire. Question. How can i connect this into my dialler as i cant seem to get it to trigger when i test?

I have a fault on my Gent 3400 that says "Wiring Changed-Ground Break at Card2". How do I identify that Outstation which has a fault on it? Is it the Loop Card or the Outstation? The system has never been touched since installation so I wonder how this fault came up. Thanks in advance.

Can you go to ebay and just search for this item number 170336249974. The photo shows some (Honeywell) fire zone identifiers .... can anyone provide some more info on this as I think it would be helpful for my system but I dont know what they are properly called. Thanks all.

  13. Can it be done ? I know I can get 12v Smoke/Heat heads specifically for my Intruder alarm, but given the amount of detectors I want I am leaning towards picking up a seperate fire alarm system. I dont mind running the extra cables, thats not a problem at all. My question is though - in the event of a Fire Alarm activation, instead of or as well as the 24v "bells/sounders" going off, can I hook it into my intruder alarm - so if set then it sounds the main alarm system also ?

  14. Started by HoofHearted,

I've got some Menvier M12 sensors. I'm going to wire them into my Bosch Abacus Evolution Alarm panel. I am assuming that I should use resistors in the same manner that I did for the alarm sensors. But the documentation for the sensors does not show that resistors should be installed. Can someone enlighten me please? Thanks, Ian

Hi guys, i keep being asked to install fire alarm systems in escape routes in small blocks of flats. when filling out paper work i am grading it as L4 (no grade was specified on install). is this right as really it is a dwelling and imo it should have detection and sounders in the flat.
