  1. Hi Everyone First of all thanks for looking! I have had a vigilon compact panel for about a year and a half now and until recently I have had a series of faults. Anyone who knows how to set up a GENT vigilon compact panel will know what i'm talking about. I have set up my panel with difficult command builds actioned to each device and timeblocks along with the verify function. What happened was, I was just downstairs on my laptop and i could hear the GENT loop devices "clicking" which the panel starts when you allocate the loop. That was going for about ten minutes so I decided to go upstairs to my panel and have a look on whats wrong with…

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but I am just wondering what the actual regulations are for having locks on fire doors. I am living in a student house with 4 other students and for some unusual reason all the doors in the house are fire doors - well we assume they are as we have been told by the housing office and they have those automatic door closers. I am just wondering what the regulations are for having locks on the doors - I am living with 2 male housemates who I only met this year and have found they do not understand the art of knocking. Also, one has a tendency to forget to lock the front door when he goes out and I am living on the ground floor - first doo…

Hello. I have a AFP-200 FACP that continually gives a annoying trouble message. It states "TROUBL IN SYSTEM NETWORK FAILURE" as a system trouble message. It previously had a NAM232 network card installed but I have since removed it. I cannot find in the settings how to disable the network feature on this panel and would appreciate some guidance from anyone who works with notifier products. Thanks! Dean I apologise. This should have been posted in the Fire Alarm Queries forum.

Hello everyone, I have a but of a problem with a kentec syncro running hochiki loop sounders. With ever increasing regularity I am getting sounder disconnected faults from loop base sounders, sometimes if I unplug them and refit them the panel will clear and never show them again, for others they are permanant. It is a fairly new system so its unlikely they have all gone faulty already, but its never to soon I guess. The kentec syncro sees them if I power down th eloop and let it relearn for 20 minutes but then it quickly misses them again.Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I have just been told that the reason I can't pick up the inputs on the Apollo 3 Way I/O on a ZX5e is that the software version 828M doesn't work with it. I did point out that this was not a new product and that it seemed ridiculous that this was the case.Tech basically told me that they only add products when they feel it necessary and so the panel would require a software upgrade at a cost. Not being able to prove it at the time I fire up FIRE 5 and lo and behold there's the 3 Way listed under the expanded menu - pork and pies springs to mind! Before I call "tech support" anyone had a similar experience?

Anyone an opinion/experience on the use of valued partners or agents?to put it in basic terms it's shifting boxes for others to install and maintain. I know the open protocol equipment manufacturers basically do this but what about the closed variety? It's an idea our crowd are doing and just wondering how it pans out. Ta Allen

Hello all. I've just got a job in Spain through a friend installing and maintaining fire alarm systems. Not having done much of this before but having a good understanding of electronics I would like to ask some questions regarding preferred methods of interfacing plant shutdowns, sprinkler systems and the like to the fire control panel, conventional and addressable. Its going to be a lot easier hearing It in english than spanish. I know about contacts and relays but would like to know the various or preferred means of shutting down plant, or activating other equipment from the control panel. If this question is too vague or not clear let me know and I'll try to make it …

Hello, There is large building - sport arena, where according standards it's required to design voice evacuation system. I've visited some similar premises and I noticed that there are lot's of fire alarm indoor sirens (with beacon) - in halls, corridors, etc. 1. So, if in large public building there is voice evacuation system is it required install fire alarm sounders too? (not only according standards but due to your practice too) 2. What working algorithm (typically) used for activation both sound and voice systems? Thank you.
