Hello, first of all I would like to thank the folk who recommended I change my ADE Sonade for a Texecom... Next: At my parents I replaced the ADE Sonade for a Texecom Odyssey 1 on their Accenta G3 panel. The back-up battery in the G3 was replaced as well. Everything ok. At my place I did exactly the same, but when powering the mains back up, it blew the 1A fuse for the bell/strobe in the G3 panel. Fuse replaced and everything seemed to be ok. I also have a small sound bomb connected to the G3 bell output. This now occasionally chirps away suggesting that it is being powered even when not under alarm conditions... I measured the voltage from my parents G3 panel (bet…

Hi I hope someone can give me advice on potential solutions that I can try.... Bought house 6 yrs ago, and inherited 9800. All worked well until a return from holiday, when I discovered there had been a power cut. Upon powering up, the keypad green light flashed continuously, and after a few key presses (attempted user code) the key pad locked up - beeps in annoyance upon every key press. LED screen showed nothing. Powered down again, disconnected battery, alarm sounded, re-connected battery, alarm stopped, keypad buzzed once, powered up. No change, except that the green power light on keypad is now OFF. All thoughts, ideas, help appreciated, as I've recently been ma…

Hi, I am new to this group and new to the alarm systems. I am thinking to install a new alarm system and been looking at Veritas Excel panel. The question I have is can I have a zone which is "Entry/Exit" zone as well as "Inhibited Entry" zone? The reason for this is so I can have 2 entry/exit zones but the RKP is installed in one zone - Front door and Kitchen door as Entry/Exit and RKP is installed near the front door? I hope this make sense. I am sure I will have more questions later. Thanks in advance.

Hi. Hoping for some advice. I have an old alarm system that was not working when I moved in. I have got it working now, and I am gradually updating the kit, PIR's Panel and Bell Box. Only DIY stuff but it will work fine for me. Currently I have a Bell outside, yes a bell, a dinging bell. I want to replace this as it has not battery backup. I was thinking of buying a Reson8 Bell Box, I have an ADE panel. My questions are - 1) Any advice on which end to connect first, panel first or Bell ? 2) How long will it sound when fitting, and what connection makes it stop ? 3) Currently if the Bell goes off by mistake, I can cut the power or remove a Bell wire from the panel. I…

...as you have saved me from buying an 'Argos Special' Yale wireless alarm - from what I've read does not seem to sit to happily with WiFi and such... My girlfriend and I are due to complete on our first house at the end of this week and I want to beef up the security a bit - after all a cocker spaniel does not have the deterrent power of a Dobermann or a crocodile I've spoken to a couple of installation companies down here in Poole and been 'ballpark quoted*' around the 700 mark for a basic system (grade 2, 1 ext bellbox, 1 dummy, 1 control box, remote keypad, 4-5 Pir, 3-4 door/window contacts). Don't get me wrong, I'd love to just have a good installer come in and …

Hi, Ive got a normal two up two down house ,however it is a corner house and so has three sides exposed ,what make of system pref with RKP would be a good system that would be secure and able to be fittted by a competent diyer. Is there also any way to protect an outside building with any sensors that would still be linked to the house alarm.Sorry about the length of the post but in addition would perimeter security such as shock sensors be worth installing on a normal corner house. In total i wouldnt really like to spend over 200 on a system any help would be great ,thx in advance

Hi, Ive got a reponse PA 400,i know its a bit crappy but it was doing ok and well im thinking of replacing it ,but for the last few week the system at random times has been sounding on tamper ,sometimes with ten minutes breaks in between and sometimes in quick succession.Any help would be great. Plus yesterday i got the multimeter out and checked the aux voltage and found to my horror it was 240 volts even though the system is only supplied with 12. Is this a major problem becausde at the moment ive disconneted the system because i didnt think 240 volts should run through normal alarm cable.Thx in advance for any ideas

I've tried to make sense of previous posts but need an answer more directly to this question please. I know that alarm cable for PIR's shouldn't be run near mains cable. But does this also apply to the alarm cable for my magnetic contacts, keypads, external sounder and communicator? If so I've dropped a clanger.

I have a DIY alarm with an old bell box. It has no backup batteries inside, and I want to change it for one that does. My question is I live in an area that has a fair amount of power cuts. Will these set the bell off ? I don't want to upset the neighbours. Also after it is installed do they all generally have a feature that allows them to be switched off from inside the house if I need to open the panel for any reason ? , Dom.

Hi all, I'm thinking about adding a scantronic 9954 expander to my 9751 system. I know that it provided an extra 8 zones, but I was also wondering if it included terminals to connect up keypads and bells? Many Thanks, James

Would like to use a texecom system that i can link into my home automation system, eg arm the alarm and perhaps zones, just status etc via a web interface. Can you integrate the texecom control panels with a pc? Otherwise can u recommend a system please. many thanks

Hello all, first post here so please be gentle I have acquired a 2nd user Menvier TS700 panel, keypad, 5 PIR's, 2 panic buttons, internal sounder, a new Texecom Odyssey 3e and two sets of door contacts (also new). I don't profess to be experienced in another similar field to alarm installations so I am not trying to impress or annoy the experts on here. However I am posting here as I realise there is a lot of expert information and advice available. Firstly, I paid nothing for the system listed above; it was removed as a working system from a renovation and put in a box which is now in my garage. Can I reasonably expect to install this in my house on new wiring and…

Heres food for thought for this area or this specific board. In total or general I feel it was or is a good idea, Pro Installers offering help (which they are in no way obliged to supply) but they do out of the kindness of their hearts and if you read a good few posts, most replies are helpful
