Has anyone has any experience with the Melcom ST5500 (4 sector alarm kit). Just wondering if this panel will keep the SLA backup battery charged? Putting a voltmeter across the battery connectors gives no voltage (battery not connected).

Hi, I am interested in programming a Radionics 7212 panel using their RAM II software. I understand it is possible to direct connect the panel's phone connection to the computer's modem using a cable, 1k ohm resistor, and a 9V battery. Does anyone have the schematic for this connection? Thanks.

Hello All... I installed a Eurosec cp8+dialler in my 3 bed house a year ago. Just decided to actually program the part sets so I can go to bed and leave downstairs and garage armed. I can disable zones via the keypad but this is a pain every night. Now I have the installation manual but I can't get my head round it, If some kind soul could give me a clue in the right direction i'd be most grateful. ATB..... Duggz

Do the 'ahem' pro's get insulted when Joe public tries to save money and install his/her own system? I'm in the process of installing a professional system myself. I am finding it very intresting and satisfying. However, Most of the principles are not to difficult to understand once you have a bit of literiture or good advice. I dont think i could do it as good as you guys, but it will be better than a cowboy installation. For me, professionalls are there for when i can't or don't want to do the work myself. Take plastering, i'm useless at it and call a tradesman everytime. However, i can and do service my car. You guys seem to me to be irritated by us DIY'ers Just…

Hello everyone. Been reading these pages for a while now and have gained a lot of information. Now it's the time to ask a few questions. Be gentle, please. I installed an ADE Sonade2000 3 years ago on my house. (Looks like the Honeywell 8EP186 ) It and the rest of the system have worked perfectly. I am aware of the life that batteries have so would like to change the battery in the "bell box". It's a 8.4v 280mAh battery. Now for my question... Where can I get a replacement? Would you guys actually replace the battery or fit a new box such as an Odyssey? Thanks, Chris

Have just replaced my trusty Citadel Defender bellbox (strobe packed up) with the new Honeywell Reson8. Now I know my LEDs in the Defender were quite dim but the ones in the Reson8 hardly show Only at late night can I see the red one and the green one is only just visible when looking at a certain angle! The green is so dim I had to get the ladder just to make sure. I haven't spoken to Honeywell yet but does anyone have any other experience of this box? Also is the quality of this product worse than the Defender or is this my imagination too? All comments appreciated before contacting Honeywell. Dave

Hi guys, we recently moved house and was never provided the alarm codes. We were informed by the previous owner that there was no problem with the alarm, so after trying to get hold of the installation engineers with little success, I finally plucked up the courage to peform a 'Power Up Rest' to clear the non volatile memory and allow me to re-program the system. I have done and all seems fine, with all tests passed apart from the bell not sounding. We do not know how long the system was disconnected from the mains but its at least 3 months, and when I opened the CPU, the battery was also disconnected. Do we have too wait a certain amount of time for a battery in the …

So at last i have decided to get somthing done about it, I have been told by a Engineer that the little panel is a C & K Securitech 700L and that the attual alarm box thing thats hide in my bedroom is a Veritas box (its just a plain metal square. nothing on it at all) Now the Engineer says that to reset the Veritas box and defualt the system he has to "short circit" it and that with Veritas boxes there only 50/50 change if the board will live after Does this sound right?
