  1. I just had a nice new front door fitted to my house and would like to add a reed switch to it. I got Pet IR sensors around the house but when the alarm was installed(a C & K Securitech 700l) they never put a front door reed switch. I can easely route the wire to front door as the control panel is in toliet next to it. My question is how hard would it be to add this myself? Im quite "hands on" with electricals anyway as i work with pulling computers apart all the time. I take it i would just have to move all the wires along 1 place on the motherboard in the control box and slightly reprogramme the zones

Hi Can anyone tell me what voltage goes through the trigger circuit? I have a smoke detector that is N/O and my alarm has N/C zones. I was hoping to wire the N/O of the detector to the solenoid on a N/C relay and connect the zone trigger to that - any thoughts?

hi all, i'm new to the site and i was wondering if you could give some advice on a problem i'm having with my alarm system. I'm a spark by trade and recently installed a texecom r8 with sd1+ autodialler into my home. The alarm system works fine but dialler just wont trigger, i.ve checked all connections and all seems fine i.e. pos & neg , the trigger into input c (intruder) on dialler, -ve trigger from terminal b on the panel and yet it still wont trigger. I thought it could be something within the programming but couldn't see anything untoward. Any help would be gratefully recieved on this as i've told the wife that it works perfectly look forward to your replies …

Hi all, First post on the forum, so far found it very useful but I have a couple of specific questions I need some answers to before I can wire up my panel. I have a scantronic 9651 with 5 Honeywell PIRs and 1 smoke detector. I have checked the manual for the control box and just need to confirm the following: Power for PIRs etc are all connected the AUX power connector strip (as this is the only power output I can see on the board). The alarm connections on the PIRs (each connected on a different zone) appear to share a connection block, e.g for Zones 1 and 2 there are 3 connections, am i correct in assuming that Zone 1 PIR Alarm + goes to first connection, return fr…

I have an existing Menvier TS510 system (5 PIRs, 2 contacts & remote keypad) which works fine but I want to extend the system to cover a garage/annex building and possibly a shed. I also want to add some features such as: speachdialer, panic attack, keyfob or proximity device and smoke detectors The garage/annex is about 30 metres from the house and it will be a big/expensive job to trench in any cable. I'm looking at about 10 intrusion detectors (which I would like to configure into at least 5 areas for partial set configuration) and 3 smoke detectors. I've seen the majority of advice is to go hard wired over wireless - which I can understand but it is not econom…

Hello everyone Ive just installed a complete Texecom system comprising of Premier 24 control panel, Texecom speech dialler, Prox reader keypad, 3xreflex PIRs and 2xMirageDT Petwise PIRs. My first question is (and i'm sure there will be more questions as I go through more in depth programming!) what do the three different PIRs mean on the Petwise detectors? I must say I am very impressed that my cat can walk around freely without setting them off, but my other question is does anyone know of many reported false alarms with these detectors? I am an electrician and have fitted quite a few more basic intruder alarms with work so if anyone wants to get technical feel free.…

Hi I have got an Accenta G3 Mini Panel with Remote Keypad. I have installed all my PIRs, Bell Box and Remote Key Pad. I have just wired in my remote key pad for the time being and completed the first power up, which involved connecting the battery, attaching the covers to the panel, entering **** followed by prog ****. I have then switched on the mains supply to the Panel. So far so good. No Tamper light. Now I need to complete the wiring of my bell box and PIRs to the Panel. Should I have done this before first power up, or does it not matter? Hopefully it won't matter as it states in the instructions to complete first power up and then complete the wiring. Is it …

Hi I have searched these forums for a similar topic but have been unable to find anything useful. I am trying to connect a Reson 8 Bell Box to an Accenta G3 Mini Panel. I have followed the instructions that came with the bell box - which only states I need 5 wires, the sixth one, blue is not needed. Is that right? And if so, does this not connect back to the Panel? On looking at the instructions with the Panel they are somewhat different and use all 6 wires - however I don

Just bought one of these wireless alarm systems from TLC Direct http://tinyurl.com/jpmlc Actually, I went into a local electrical shop for something else, saw this system and it came very highly recommended as being an excellent system and very easy to install - no experience necessary said the guy in the shop. I was interested and started doing some research then found the same kit for

Hi people. Am I right in saying that items, such as PIR's are wired straight back to the CP and that the security (tamper) loop is litterally a continuous loop that runs to each device and back to the CP? I need to fit the cabling soon, as I am almost ready to start decorating. I wont be fitting the alarm system for quite a while, but want to get the cables in so I dont destroy the house once decorated. I know that you shouldn't run them close to power cables and always leave some slack (ha!), I'm just not 100% sure how the tamper circuit works. If someone could let me know, that would be cool! Also, I was just going to pick some 6 or 8 (to be safe!) core up from the…

Hello everyone. I am having a sticker made for my bell box, to make it look more like a professional install. The guy making the sticker needs the exact size of the box to ensure a proper fit. I have the sizes given off the website, but because of the shape I am not sure of how much it narrows. I am now wishing, I kept the template. I need to borrrow a ladder to get up to put the sticker on, but I don't want the hassle of going up just to measure. If some kind soul could measure all the sides, I would be very grateful. , Dom.
