Hi, I sometimes work for my family who has a business in the awnings, and in the related automation systems. I am in an electronic engineering school and I regularly help them when they need it so sometimes I install systems at the customer's house, especially when there are complex automation and radio control systems to configure. I also do some service job on damaged systems. I find this job similar in some ways to installing an alarm system, firstly because there are some non trivial electronic stuff involved, secondly because there are regulations to respect, and lastly because our job is also security related: regularly we install rolling shutters and people use t…

I have a Regalsafe RS40 in my house wth no information whatsoever about its settings. Sadly the installation and maintenance manual (which I have) only indicates how to reset to factory settings IF I have the master engineer code but I don't have this so I am in a 'chicken and egg' situation of needing to reset to factory state in order to know the engineer code but not being able to do this because I don't know it! I would be grateful for advice on how to force a factory reset without knowing the currently set engineer code. Thanks to anyone who can offer advice Brian Gladman

Hi, We had a powercut this morning, and I woke at 5:10am to the front bell box going off. System is Texecom Premier. Keypads were dead, so power and battery was completely flat. Power was restored at 5:20, and having a look at my event log shows that there was a low battery alarm at 5:03am. My question is, how long should I expect the back up battery to last? I guess even if power went off at midnight, I should expect it to run the system for at least 5 hrs. I though I spec'ed the system well with two x 7AH batteries in parallel. My normal system current is about 800mA, so I should at least expect 10hrs+ of standby? BTW, this was a DIY install, and has been faultl…

Hi All, My engineer has fitted a Menvier TS900 which I supplied but now wished for me to provide him with additional power supply, not sure why an additional power supply is required? Hi, I've got a Scantronic 9651 alarm which takes a 7aH battery. As I couldn't find one I bought a 6aH battery from tlc. When it arrived yesterday I noticed they sent me a 7.2aH one. So basically all I would like to know is if this 7.2aH battery would work in my scanny 9651? Many Thanks, James

Hi I currently have the above topic title installed in my property, and with the new EN reg's am considering should I upgrade it? So far, its been fine I have had this panel in 3 properties which has come with me and over the years have only updated the PIR's to Reflex's and Impacs on the windows etc., my thinking the panels only as good as what the senosrs attached to it!! I have frequently (well every 2 months) tested the zone's through walk through, checked the AUX, SCB and battery volts and drop checked the battery, only changed that once over ten years, as it failed the drop test I done. So to me it seems sound at present but should I Upgrade? If I do it will be …

I've started routing the wire for my alarm, and having seen a few dodgy installs where the wires are pinned up the walls & along the top of skirting boards, I want to make a real good effort at hiding the wires. As it happens, we're also redecorating the whole house, so chanelling the wires isn't a problem. Anyway as said, I've made a start at running the wires, and all my downstairs sensor wires have been ran to the upstairs & exit through the floor boards in various rooms. They need to all run to a cupboard at the end of the landing area, on the same floor level. Bearing in mind that my house is only about 4 years old, and has the really wide, thick floor boa…

Hi, we are having our front door replaced and have a query with regards to the alarm contact. At the moment the contact is embedded in the door frame and door, but we are having a new uPVC door (and I assume frame!) fitted on Friday - I think it is a safe assumption that I will have to replace the existing contacts, but how simple is this and what do I need to get? The alarm system we have is a Veritas R8 if that helps! Many thanks, Dave.
