As a DIYer in rented accomodation, I'm wondering if I can put the external siren from a PowerMax+ indoors. My reasons for considering this are: 1. I won't have to get Landlord consent for drilling holes in his external wall 2. It'll be easier to remove the alarm system when I move out of the propery 3. I read that in theory having a visible alarm can increase chances of being burgled as it shows you have something worth stealing (maybe this is a bad theory?) 4. Having the siren going off indoors will make it more unpleasant for the intruder, so they might leave quicker, hence steal less. 5. If there is a false alarm, neighbours won't be subjected to the same intensi…

Hi After taking a perverse pleasure for the last 15 years in being the only house in the road without an alarm and not getting burgled the inevitable happened and we were burgled. . Thieves were after the cars and just took the keys and left - way too easy for them (until they got nicked that is ) . I don't want the cars to go missing again and I think an alarm might have helped deter them (perhaps) and certainly wouldn't have done any harm. I was toying with the idea of doing a DIY but might get someone in if it looks too complicated (it's the EOL stuff that's hurting my head). I've come up with the list of kit below to cover the downstairs, upstairs landin…

Hello every one, I've just joined the forum looking for assistance. I was looking for a DIY alarm on the internet and followed a lead to a local supplier who was advertising the PowerMax system but when I got there the system I wanted was out of stock and they ended up selling me a GardTec system, if only I

Hi again No doubt I'm missing something obvious but looking at the intallation manuals the AMDT detectors support Triple EOL and appear to have 5 terminals (0v, 12v 2xT-EOL, Remote LED) and the AMDT manual would have me connect T-EOL to the EOL Zone. Question is - is the AMDT detector compatible with the Premier 24? If so how would I wire them in? - I see no EOL Zone in the manual. Thanks in advance Ian

Following on from the top advice about replacing a scanny 9200 with a 9651, I thought I'd ask for the connections to an Odyssey 5 and while I'm at it anything to watch out for. I'm not being lazy just cautious, honest! Thanks again. Matt

Ye Olde Scantronic 9200 panel I fitted at my parents house about 20 years ago has finally gone to meet its maker. So I've bought a 9651-EN40 as a replacement (thought I'd stick with Scantronic as 20+ years is pretty good I reckon). I sat down this evening to read the installation manual and realised things have moved on a bit so here's my first question - does anyone forsee any problems in a simple swap. I can see that there is only a single tamper on the 9651 instead of per zone and I'm OK with this, however I'm wondering if the PIRs are compatible they're Pyronix Enforcer Plus (4 of 'em also about 20 years old) - I can't see why not but I haven't the benefit of years of…

Hello there, I'm doing a diy alarm install on my house using a texecom system but I am having difficult choosing the pir's - so many to choose from! Does anyone have any good reference material for this? I think standard ones will be fine for most areas but I have an open plan kitchen/back room with all glass at the back (patio doors/windows) - for this area do I go for a 3D sensor that is good against white light or for a DT sensor (just what I have read/picked up so far)- any help would be greatly received. There's also a fire place with open chimney - I don't think it causes too much of a draft though so should be o.k. Many Thanks,

Hi Im Have a problem with a texecom odyssey 1e external sounder, When connecting to the controlpanel (texecom veritas excel) It drops the voltage from the control panel from 13.3v to 7.5v After alittle playing around i cut the wiring to it & checked the voltages. With the sounder unattached the control panel gives out 13.3v half way up the cable run (about 20m) as soon as i attach just the 12v supply only to the sounder (on the otherhalf of the cable run) it drops to 7.5v. I have checked all i can without removing the sounder from the wall (no wires shorting in cable) & making up a temp cable to check. Sounder is set to S.A.B. System @ The mo is veritas exc…

Hello folks, As some of you have probably worked out, I have an ADE Accenta G3 that I installed myself almost 4 years ago. It provides reasonable coverage to my house, but ideally I would like to add at least 2 more detectors and a 2nd remote keypad (upstairs). Currently I have all 8 zones in use: 3 door switches (front, back and patio door) and 5 PIR's. Two of the PIR's are in the hallway and on the landing with coverage that detects any movement from room to room. The other 3 are in the lounge and the rooms with the back door and patio door. There's also a PA button in the master bedroom and one incorporated in the keypad in the hall. The control panel is "hidden…

I have just bought a Texecom Speech Dialler (voice and text) to connect to my Texecom Veritas R8 Control Panel and i'm a bit confused as to how i connect it. I have manged to get the power and phone connection connected no problem but i'm a bit stuck as to where i connect it to on the control panel? All I am wanting is to is send a message when there is an alarm activation. I'm assuming I use the Trigger inputs 1 - 4 on the Speech Dialler Panel - but not sure which one(s)? And i'm not sure where i connect this to on the main control panel i have read a few posts that sounds like I should use the A B C D terminals?? If anyone could give me some help to get in the righ…
