Hi everyone, I'm trying to get the SG-II alarm system up and running. The built in PIR seems to be detecting something. I've tried covering completely but unit still alarms after 10 seconds, or sometimes after a minute or so. If I disable the PIR, unit works fine with external PIRs. Has anyone got any ideas because they're so expensive. regards, Glenn

I've been offered a new Pyronix PCX256 for little more money than a Sterling 10, though I really only need a basic panel for my 3-bed terraced house. What I'm wondering is whether I would gain anything of value from the better panel, or whether the additional facilities and options would just make installation more confusing for a beginner? Thanks in anticipation!

  4. I have an early version of the Veritas 8 panel (pre 1998 is it? The one where engineering mode is the 4 digit code then 00 instead of the 4 digit code then the PROG button). Does this version support multiple remote keypads? I have 2 points of entry to the house and want to put a panel near the second one (there is already one at the first - the panel itself is in the loft). All help gratefully received, Chris

Hi all, I have a simple question for you guys in the know but I cant find an answer for it. I have run wires in my house now for my premier 24 panel(not fitted yet) which will be wired to 5 K9-85 pet friendly pirs. I have wired the sensors I have fitted as EOL. The sensors have an option for a walktest to be wired up to the control panel and the sensor then has a jumper selection "via test". The premier 24 doesnt have a walktest connection. So my question is do I leave the jumper in "walktest" rather than "via test"? and assuming I do as I cant find any info in either the sensor installation or control panel instructions to remove it, will the led light all the time w…

Hi all I have a Texecom Premier 24 Alarm Panel which I will install in the coming months. I have the following upgrades with it:- 1 x Texecom Premier 24 Alarm Panel 1 x 8XE internal zone expander 1 x 8XP external zone expander to provide full 24 zones Could you please answer a few questions:- Can the system be set to 'chime' when a door is opened (from the door contact sensor) and if yes, can a different chime be set for each door? (How many different tones available?) If the answer to above is yes, could I put a external sensor on a side gate and chirp when it is opened? Can a number of relays be switched on/off from the panel based on certain sensors being ac…

Fantastic Forun - very informative. We are very much like the fella in the http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/comm...331&hl=9960 thread. We have decided on the scantronic hybrid system. We require the following: 1 x scantronic 9751/2 1 x 9940 keypad I therefore assume we need: 1 x 9960 8 zone wireless expander Am I correct that it is only compatible with: 715r PIR Detector 719r Smoke Detector 725r Remote Telecommand 726r Panic Alarm 735r Door Contact ? However elsewhere I've seen that they are compatible with the 714R, 720R? Which is correct? And which is best? At the moment my wish list is: 1 x 9751/2 control panel with 9940 keypad (or 9930 keypa…

I have a Gala 18 here at home with a RIO attached, (2 modules.). The other night the EE horn sounded so I went to investigate. The panel told me there where 8 tamper alarms, All originating from the rio. I then disabled the rio ( psu and a/b completely removed) and the system then told me it was gone ( all as expected so far ) When I then reconnected the rio and the system detected it there where 3 tamper alarms (1,2 & 5) I then had to spare these zones to get the alarm to set... Do I just replace the offending rio or is there something i am missing?

I have a Eurosec alarm with a Gardtec speech dialler unit, which has gone faulty. I want to replace The Gardtec speech dialler with one that also has text message capability. Would the Texecom speech and text dialler work with the Eurosec alarm? Would the wiring be the same as the Gardtec? If not can anyone recommend a unit that will work and the best place to purchase it. Thanks.

Hi folks and here's hoping you can help me. First I'd like to point out that my alarm was fitted by an electrician and wasn't a DIY installation, but I have done DIY maintenance on it since, so I hope I'm in the right forum. If not please accept my apologies. I have a Challenger Alarm with CEF AP28 COntrol Panel. 5 PIR room sensors + a further PIR in the garage which can be active 24hrs and is switched off isolated by a switch at our back door, and a fire alarm. History Alarm was fitted 6 years ago by an electrician - the wiring and PIRs were left in place and re-used from a previous alarm installation from about 17 years ago, and connected to the new control panel …
