Hi, I am fairly new to the board, but reading a lot of the Posts helped to clarify my thoughts on the alarm upgrade and with planning the installation. I would like to thank the pros who bother to help us DIYers. For me to go DIY again was not lost business to the trade, but any advice is gratefully received. I am upgrading my existing wired alarm system to a Texecom Premier 24, with 4 x Prestige PW PIR (2 cats!) sensors, magnetic contacts and prox keypad. This is the third system (over 17 years), so I have some knowledge (and good notes) from my previous installs. I have read many of the forum posts on wiring, especially for DIY, but I think I understand EOL enough …

I have a Texecom speach/text dialer that has been just fine for several years. For some unknown reason it now will not send text alerts. It tries to send them but fails. The speach side seems fine. My opening question is has there been any change in the message centre numbers? It seems to dial out but not be able to make a remote connection. The only other thing I have changed is that the line it is on has been broadband enabled - everything including the dialer is filtered. Any help much appreciated.

can you please confirm how to connect (Menvier SD1 speech dialler) trigger to Veritas 8 control panel When Trigger C (SD1) is connected to output B(Veritas 8) the SAB makes a repetitive low level noise. The installation suggests using a 1k resistor to tie Trigger c to prevnt the sounder attempting to activate. Is this correct? and should the 1k connect Trigger c to Ov (sounder connection terminals). Hope I have made the problem clear

Hi All, My new house has a optima compact alarm (fitted 1998 according to card with system). It seems to work OK (and the external sounders cheerfully tell the neighbours everytime the power goes off) so I guess it's been maintained at some point although no contract exists (according to previous owners). The original install company no longer seems to exist (although one of the service numbers now points to a different alarm company). We never really use the alarm and I'd quite like to get rid of it (ugly install anyway) only I'm paranoid about triggering the tamper alarm. Is there anyway to turn the alarm off altogether so it can be removed. I have the user code Tha…

Hi everybody, I have a Citadel XR2 panel(rebadged Optima compact on behalf of Senate electrical). I have 2 RKP's. When i turn mains power off, all lights vanish and alarm sounder (inside and outside) does not go off. If i then put mains power back on, the alarm goes off? I gather the battery is knackered (5 years old) but when mains switched off, shouldnt it alarm?? Thanks, Gary.

I've attached a plan layout of our home. I am particularly interested in setting up a PIR for the living/dining room to protect the front bay windows. However, reading the DIY install guide, it was mentioned that the PIR should not face a bay window. If I was to place the PIR located on the image shown in green, this will face the opposite end of the room (it would also cover anyone entering from the rear of property) However, I'm concerned that this location won't cover the bay window where someone would enter the front window, as the window is set back from the corner of the room. The PIR shown in red would cover it, but would violate the advice about facing the front b…

Hi, i have just installed a texecom premier 412 alarm system in my house, everything works fine and was easy enough. but being my first alarm install i am not sure on how to have it hooked up with dial in access with a wireless device for checking logs etc. any advice would be appreciated. also, is the pc-com cable a normal rs232 cable? or does that little box in the middle of it actually do some kind of conversion? if it is a normal cable, does anyone have the pinouts? thanks for help.

I fitted an Intellisense 800 hardwired system to my last house and amazed myself that I had no problems in the 5 years I was there (I have to say the cable work was not discreet though, so the professionals are worth their money for their ability to make the cables 'invisible'! Now I've moved to an old house (1900) and hope you would give me your views this wireless system. The house has 2 conservatories (small, I might add!). Are there wireless DT PIRs that would go with the following system: from GX Security: GT490X panel Yuasa NP 7Ah 12v battery 6x Gardtec GT490X Wireless Shock Detectors 6x Gardtec GT490X Wireless Door Contacts 2x Gardtec GT490X Wireless Pet P…

Hi - I am trying to connect a Gardiner Technologies Speech dialler to an ADE optima compact machine. I have connected +ve and -ve and also the -ve from the bell signal to T3, in the manual is shows the FLT terminal as pointing to the L/F input - I have not connected this to anything on the panel. When I fire up and try either the user or engineer reset codes - at 88, it seems to be beep then shows the - (hyphen), but then flashes FS or maybe F5 , PF, oF alternatively ... I can not find what PF or F5 mean .. do I need to connect the FLT to the +ve incoming voltage .. as it say on one page when connecting to a certain model of controller to make sure it is disconnecte…

I have completed a DIY install of an Accenta Gen4 mini panel with 1 RKP. Anyway, I have powered up the panel, completed all the tests as described in the engineers manual and everything works as it is supposed to. I have set up program 1 as the full set which is activated when I set the alarm system. The problem comes when I try to activate the part set program. For the part set program it is basically the same as program 1, but with one upstairs PIR set to unused, and the exit mode disabled. When I follow the instructions for setting the part set program from the RKP it won't allow it. To set a part set program: Type in user code to arm system Exit beep sounds pres…

Hello folks. I'll soon be "servicing" my alarm and realised it's now nearly 4 years old - installed Jan 2004. So, probably a good time to replace the main battery. The current one is a PowerSonic 3.4Ah inside an Accenta G3, standard size box with RKP not a "mini". So, there's some room for a bigger battery. We've had some power cuts of several hours and had no problems. Nonetheless would it make sense to go for a larger one if it would fit, say around 7Ah? And what brand would anyone recommend and why? Current "active" devices are 1 Novagard2 and 5 simple PIR's. I'm thinking of maybe adding 2 more PIR's and a second RKP at some time. Finally the battery outside..…

Hi, I've got a couple of covert CCTV PIRs in the house, and was wondering if normal PIRs for alarms are immune to these or not? If they are not, are there any that are? I thought DT PIRs are as they detect both heat and movement? Thanks Kuchars22

I have a Yale 3800 kit 4, wireless alarm system, I installed it myself, it took about 2 hours. The system works fine I have had it for about 2 years and have never had any problems with it. I have just changed the batteries in the siren box for the first time. The siren inside and outside is very loud and if any batteries start to run out in the pir's and door contacts it comes up in the control box display screen and tells me. I am pleased with the system, the price was good ( about
