Setting-up Business Queries

I am looking at working for myself at the weekend installing domestic intruder alarms. I am currently qualified as an electrician and hold 16th edition. Do i require part p before i start to install a fused spurs, also to a need to be self cert. More importanly what is the advice on setting up. Do i sign up for a limited company. I will be working at my current job during the week. Basically to put it bluntly what do i need to set this up

Hi Been looking at adding fire alarm installation to our portfolio, we get asked for this quite a bit, and rather recommed some one we flatly push the work away... We have been in the industry for 4.5 years just on CCTV alone, and doing ok, CCTV is a grudge buy where as Fire alarms are a must.. The are 3 ways i can run this, the first being get on a fire training course, (Which to be fair is not what i want to do), the second is employ a fully certified Engineer and let him run the dept (this is an option we are currently looking at), or third offer some one a partnership in an already established company (SSAIB Approved) with A1 Accounts as long as they have somthing …

Hello All, I am looking for a software package to allow me to monitor the location of installed equipment by serial number. Ideally, i would like some form of PDA attachment so the installers can update, and check records onsite. Any ideas or recommendations? Rich

Ok - a good classic start up question ... We're just about the attempt a large sales drive - but before we can attempt that we need to choose a panel! My personal preference is towards menvier but they have yet to release their wireless adapter (although they are releasing it soon) - something which would be useful to speed up installs in existing houses. What is everyones thoughts on a good basic panel to choose for the average install? I'd really like to hear everyones views on this. It must ideally be - wireless and wired - neat - resonable looking keypads with english text and allow for a communicator / redcare to be fitted. !

At present I dont advertise the company logo on the CCTV housing i install, but I'm now looking into doing this. I tend to use Haydon Metro housings. Can anyone recommend a company that makes quality "stickers" that wont peel off or fade after a few months!.

I'm currently looking for workwear for my company, polo shirts, coats, service shirts, fleeces that sort of thing, was hoping some of you could point me in the direction for a good supplier, i'd imagine its the sort of thing that the amount of money your willing to spend depends on the quality of the item. Guys, I'm not sure if you will be familiar with the Thompson directory....I believe it to be a national operation.....Its like a mini local yellow pages....Issues once a year. Do any of you use this service?? what sought of responses have you attracted?? Been offered an attractive monthly deal/rate and have been shown stats for double glazing / carpet fitters but none for Security........Apparently they get statistics from those ads who use the 0800 numbers..... normally we dont do a lot of intruder however we have decided its time to branch into it, initially we are thinking of targeting the domestic market and where thinking of putting flyers around, i have attached them so if anyone has any feed back it would be much appreciated, i will be getting them printed on 130gsm gloss art card A5 the pictures are the front and reverse

Im just about to finally get my van in a couple of weeks now (when the company that went bust 6 months ago finally pay me)! Whats the situation about claiming fuel and running costs back? I havent got a clue! I know i will NEED an accountant but cant sort that just yet due to non money. Do i need a CIS card, do i need to be VAT registered?
