Came across an RRT keypad connected to an old Scantronic 9500 system. It looks like a Scantronic product, not really sure. It didn't seem to be working too good, couldn't fathom out how it was supposed to interact with the alarm. I assume an output from the panel (possibly BELL trigger output or INTRUDER relay) fires the remote reset of which is interlocked in some way back to the panel (possibly via a ZONE or TAMPER input). I had a quick squiffy inside the RRT keypad and noticed it had TRIG, SIG, 0V, 12V and 2 x TAMP terminals as well as a set of relay connections (NC, C and NO). I've tried searching through the Scantronic website and nothing. Any ideas?

Dear all. I want to start my own business. well, get my own work as that is definatly where the money is but i want to go about it the correct way. I have been in the security industry for 3.5 years covering all aspects but mainly intruder. i have got a business name and had some business cards made but not sure whether i have to register the name first before i hand them out. Secondly, i would like some sort of acreditation (ssaib, nsi) but i believe that there are a lot of rules n regs to go by for that and money. Would i be best of just handing out my cards, try and get some work, build up my capital and clientel then apply for ssaib or nsi. Finally as i have neve…

It seems that ISO9001 is a topic that polarises opinion. In the "Starting a new business" thread, there's a good spread of views for and against. Those that recall the "good ol days" of BS5750 - Total Quality Management, if you will - will also recall that the most common saying about it was "c##p in, c##p out". And that's kind of the point of the management system - it is supposed to document *your* business, and reflect the way *your* business is run. Too many firms go after ISO, then figure that they can't do something because it isn't in the manual, or that they can't get somewhere because the manual says different. This is where ISO fails, or at least where ther…

Hi, Anyone know what approvals there are for small businesses? Dont have alot of money in the budget for much but was thinking about something the goverment like trust mark or similar (they may be just as expensive though cant find prices). I personally have lots of experience in fire, lots of manufacture courses, all the bfpsa units ect ect My trading company however does not have iso or anything. Bafe SP201, ssiab and nsi seem quite pricy (the prices i can find on the net) and i think they all require iso. Please correct me if im wrong and they do do some sort of small business approval. Apoligies if i am wrong been to busy to have a proper look into it and the pricy…

Not something i am going to go for soon but. The last company which i was officially employed for was just starting to go for iso as I left to work for myself. Just wondering what simple things i could be doing now which would help me in the future. For example does all company litrature \ forms ect have to be nubered and logged for diffrent revisions. Does any have a rough idea what i could be doing now or is there anywhere on the net that has a rough guide to iso? Thanks guys,

Had this through from our accountant ..... "Business people have been used to Revenue officials visiting them to examine their VAT Returns and to give employment compliance checks, however a fundamental additional power has been awarded to those in the employ of HMRC. With effect from April 2009 they will begin compliance visits to monitor a persons tax position. The implications of this are far reaching. It has effectively given the Revenue the right to conduct a fishing expedition as they can check past, present and future liabilities to pay tax, claims and penalties. In practice they will only need to give 7 days notice of their intention to visit the business premis…

hi im just wondering what qualifications you nead to install alarms. from what iv read you start as a electricion and then specialise in alarms. is this the only way to qualify ?. or can you go from installing networks wired to alarms? the reson im asking is that i live in a small city in the west of ireland. i dont see the point of going to collage to get a very pricies degree in IT and have little or no prospect of getting suitable imployment. shurle there is a position for want of a better word an IT fiter that can fit or at least prewire an alarm while im at it.
