The problem is you can only claim the VAT back on workwear if it's got a logo on it or specialised. Eg trade trousers no problem, polo wih logo, no problem. Polo Shirt without logo, legally not vat reclaimable.... or so my accountant told me.

I have no proof but our accountant tells us to claim for workclothes so we do with no problems so far and we have several VAT visits(and nice people they are to :whistle: )
