  2. Hey people, just wondering how long it took everyone else in the trade to decide what type of bells to go for, e.g. texecom ody 3, pyronix delta etc.. or what are the main types you use if more than 1 and also how long did it take you to design them? As i've been trying to come up with a decent design for ages and just havent had the time to narrow it down to the 1 I like, plus once this is sorted it out i can get stickers designed for panels, keypad and other bells (customer blank bells)

Hi, I was wondering if most guys spend the time going out and giving cctv quotes for home systems , as it seems like a lot of wasted time and effort as you are obviously not going to get every job you quote for ? Also has anyone had any experience of using a finance company to bring the initial cost down to the customer, is it a good way of working ? Has anyone had problems with this approach ?

VAT Amnesty HMRC has launched a new amnesty campaign targeting businesses trading above the VAT threshold without being registered. The VAT crackdown is set to hit later on in the summer, giving those who are unregistered for VAT to get their affairs in order. The initiative is expected to run along the same lines as previous campaigns where HMRC encouraged non-payers to disclose what they owe before taking action against those who failed to come forward. Campaigns in the past have targeted offshore investments, medical professionals and people working in the plumbing industry. These campaigns have been aimed at reducing the tax gap by focusing on areas where a signif…

I frequently come across clients who've started their own company, but not bothered to check the availability of their business name as a domain name, or have made poor choices in picking their "name" Therefore, here's my advice list for anyone starting up: 1) Pick a name that is easily pronounced over the phone. 2) Check for the availability of both a .com and .co.uk domain name. Don't bother with any other tld's as they rarely give the right impression (save maybe .net) 3) Don't use hyphens! I had one client whose domain was this-is-a-silly-domain-org.uk. Not only were they breaking the registry rules for a .org.uk domain (Supposed to be for not-for profit organisat…

I am looking for a quick sale of my 6 year old CCTV company (installation and maintenance) It is not specific to any location and would suit someone looking to get into the trade on a good footing. There is to much to go over but if your reading this and have at least £60k to spend on a ltd company with some nice assets and ideas then please PM me for further discussions. I am looking for a career change as I have lost my passion for CCTV and running the company. I just dont enjoy the type of work, for me getting rid of the company is more important than trying to wait it out to make money from it hence why I am looking to virtually give it away.

One thing i cannot find anywhere is the little stickers that go on the gauge the ones that corrispond to the year. Bascially the tiny little sticker that says "09" to cover up the gauge test hole. Anyone know where the h*ll you buy them from. ,

Hi, I have been in the security industry in Australia for roughly 15 years where i started with domestic install then commercial install. I then worked for ADI/Honeywell as a technical sales rep for a few years. After this i worked for Chubb for 1 year as a estimator for major projects. Most recently i have spent roughly 6 months in Shenzhen China doing purchasing of CCTV and Security products on a subcontract basis. I am looking for work in the UK and am currently located in Southampton. Can anyone give me some advice as to where English security companies normally advertise their vacant positions. Damien
