  1. This week I have been to a few system takeovers, when I get there I check paper work if any or ask when it was installed. They are only bells only systems or some with speech diallers. Do you think this is fair to advise on a system replacement if older than 10yrs? Some customers look at me with shock! I always advise them that parts could become an issue to obtain and obviously the advance in technology. It makes my life easier if they allow us to install our kit as it makes it a little more uniform for us not having to learn so many different panels. If I was a customer and I watched my engineer pulling out a manual I would be thinking if he actually knew what he was…

Neighbour's 17 year old Veritas panel feels overly warm, I'd expect some heat from the tranny but this seems to be along the lower width of the panel. Never touched a Veritas before so unsure if this is the norm. System working fine otherwise

  6. Morning, Been a while been really busy. Really stupid to ask and would have put this in the trade area but for some reason I cannot get in anymore. Does anyone have an intruder alarm maintenance contract I can take a look at, we are now at the stage were we are having a lot of new customers coming out of 1 year warranty and new take overs. We just basically want to go to site tell them this is what it will cost and then send them a contract detailing what we will do in our service and what we offer labour/parts wise for the year and what is chargeable out of contract. I have written one up like it one min then not the next. Would like to just look at someone's for so…

hi all hope your all well. Ive been given a project to do regarding a access door. this door leads to some tennis courts and the owner wants to limit access just to people who have payed to use them at that time. i was thinking of doing some kind of system where the reception can enter a code into the system at there desk which then the person using the court can enter the same code at the door to open it but after the code is used it will not open the door a 2nd time unless its re-entered at the reception? any ideas on what system or setup would be ideal for this? Thanks Dan

I received this in the post yesterday. Q. When is a 7Ah battery not a 7Ah battery? A. When its temperature is below or above 20C (68F)! "Remember, Ah capacity available (irrespective of stated Ah size) is affected by battery temperature as well as state of charge" Examples. 5Ah available @ 10C (50F) --------------- 9Ah available @ 30C (86F) From tomorrow on, I'll be replacing EVERY 7Ah battery that I find. Na, perhaps not, I might find one at 20C (68F)

I have recently installed a door entry system, but the lock does not seem to function properly. It is a acet 66266 2 wire system, but using original door lock. The intercom works fine, but when you try to buzz in the door does a half click and does not release the catch completly Any help would be much appreciated. Scott.

Firstly I would like to say hello to all. Nice forum plenty of helpful advice. About ready to purchase my alarm system, not quite decided the make, still researching. It will be a wired system; the extension is almost completed, so while the house is in a bit of a mess I will run the wiring, and then decorate. Now that brings me on to my question. If I wired 2 doors in series and to the same zone, will both be exit/entrance doors? I can’t see why not, but because I want it that way the answer is bound to be no. Thanks for reading and I hope you can point me in the right direction.
