Recently have tested some dual path signalling devices on how long they report catastrophic failure or both paths failing at the same time. I tested this by removing the power to the units. Redcare Secure PSTN/GPRS Grade 3 http://www.thesecuri...ing-times-test/ Attack Time : 18:35 Primary Path Failure Reported : 19:27 Secondary Path Failure Reported : 23:27 Redcare GSM Grade 4 http://www.thesecuri...eporting-times/ Attack Time :12:12:21 Primary Path Failure reported : 12:12:53 Secondary Path Failure reported : 12:15:05 Dualcom PSTN/GPRS Grade 3 http://www.thesecuri...__fromsearch__1 Attack Time :15:20 P…

Adding to my recent tests of dual path failure reporting times I have now tested a webway pstn gprs unit. Video here ARC log 16\03\2012 18:42:13 Communications failed 16\03\2012 18:42:13 PSTN Communications trouble 16\03\2012 18:41:12 GPRS Communications trouble 16\03\2012 18:31:11 General Tamper Alarm 16\03\2012 18:31:10 General Tamper Restore I pulled the power approx 18:35 so the webway reported single path fail in 6 mins reported gprs fail then a pstn fail at about 7 mins. As this is a grade 3 LPS 1277 communicator it allows reporting catastrophic failure within 11 mins. I know the video includes a redcare secure unit. I will update this in a seperate …

Purchased the new wireless Pyronix Enforcer kit today. Have just took it out of the box, the main panel is tiny compared to others. Two way so hopefully it should be pretty good. Anyone else had a play with it yet?

Early days in the search to source and self install a wireless system.. have done the usual google and internet trawl and then lurk in specialist forums etc to glean insights... have even spoken to end users and trade suppliers.... in doing all the above its getting increasingly difficult to distinguish one brand from the next apart from the marketing and buzzwords? im wondering whether at least in the wireless world, has there been so much standardisation that fundamentally choices are driven by installers preferences only rather than fundamental differences in kit? for example, isnt it the case that most of the blue chip brands now offer 2 way wireless technology and…

Ive been installing wired g2 alarm for the past 4 years (approx 120). Today I wired my mates g2 wireless kit. Used some of the original wiring in the hous for landing pir and window shock sensors. Installed new wirless door contacts. They work fine. Installed 3 wireless Pir but they don't want to play. Paired up fine with the panel but when I "display zone status". They always closed or at least 49 times out of 50. Have I done something wrong ?

People, came across a gardtec 595 plastic type panel today, was just a normal r.i and battery change but when checking the panel battery charging voltage i was only getting 4.79/4.8 v d/c surely not right is it?, also checked at the plug on module behing the panels board where the leads plug into the panel and same voltage there aswell. But the aux voltage is still normal 13.7 Range risco/gardtec and tried what they said and nothing. only other thing they said after i left site is try defaulting and re-powering and re-programming but was to late, surely that wouldnt solve it any way right as it sounds like a hardware prob not software Any info people,

Hey all! I'm completely new to using alarm systems, and a friend of mine brought along an old piece of equipment that had been lying around in their workshop for a while - a Cooper Menvier 9651 with keypad. We have been trying to program just 1 zone in panic alarm mode. Each time we key in the command and try to exit the Installer mode, a zone alarm shows up on the programmed zone and makes it impossible to exit Installer mode. Any ideas? All help will be appreciated.

I have had a 674DVR and 4 Sony 36IRVF 420 cameras in a system for about 6 months. Each of the cameras has a separate power supply (12v, 1.5 amps on the units, which came with the system). Each camera is linked to the DVR via 4 No. 20m cables which combines video, power supply and audio (not used). The cable came with end connectors so I didn't cut the cable to exact lengths. As regards viewing, this is via a CRT TV using a scart connection. All was connected up and it worked fine for about 3 months. The picture then deteriorated on each camera - faint horizontal and diagonal lines appeared, moving slowly down the screen. At night, when the infa-red came on the pictures s…

Morning All, Hoping for some help please, I'm off shopping for some new bits to alarm my garage (onto the current house alarm). As it stands I've got a Texecom Premier in house and when the garage was built I had all of the cables ran to it so that I could alarm the garage too. the only trouble I'm thinking is that in the winter when I want to drive the car straight into the garage I'd have to walk up the drive to disarm the house alarm to save a trigger. I really dont want to have the garage on a massive delay (just to give me time to park and disarm from house) as it's also give thieves the time if you know what I mean..?! So my questions really are 1. Can the gara…

afternoon all, 1st timer so be gentle! I'm a sparks, usually leave alarms to you experts, but been asked to install a simple system in a garage at the house I'm working at. I think!........ I need a panel, door contact, pir, all contolled by a remote key fob. Electric door is sectional, so contact on bottom of door. Key fob simply so they can arm / disarm easily, rather than having long entry exit period from door starting to open, drive car in, park, get out, disarm at panel. Any advice on my ideas, equipment to use, suppliers, etc, would be very much appreciated. ps I'd ask my regular alarm man but he owes me money for some work I've done for him, and don't want h…
