Greetings everyone I’m responsible for M&E services at a community centre attached to our local church and need some advice about upgrading our alarm equipment. My questions are right at the end of this message, after the explanation of why I need the advice! At present we have a Gardtec 840 with 30 zones, linked (together with the fire alarm and PA buttons) by a Redcare fixed line to an ARC. It was installed 10 years ago by a local SSAIB alarm company and has been under maintenance contract with them ever since. The ARC passes ‘intruder signals’ to our keyholding security guard company (no automatic police response) and ‘fire signals’ to firstly the Fire Bri…

Did anyone else see a documentary on Animal Planet called 'Mermaids'?, if not I would highly recommend one does, one of the best 'conspiracy theory' progs I've seen in a while, it's being rebroadcast over the next few days, I personally thought it was brilliant.

1st xmas cake made. Half a ton of fruit and other items and the fruit soaked overnight in 1/2 a bottle of brandy, and more to be fed over the next few weeks. This is the first of about 8 I shall be making, all that needs doing is the icing and marzipan. Or lack of one or the other depending on the recipient. But I can assure you people want these and ask in advance. About time I started charging. Oh yeah this weighs 2.7 kg and when finished will top 5 kg. I know it is cheaper to buy one, but a home made is so much more "More". PS do not drive after a slice if this as you will be over the limit

Did the pub manager a favour and set up the wireless router and printer for them ( Free beer time). This is what "Sky Steve" did as a favour for them. The Cat5 is lashed around the Ceiling/Coving, He could have used half of what he did and the JB`s for the cams are a eyesore if you know what you`re looking for, I`m wondering what will happen when someone grabs a handful of these when/if they slip when moving the chair Note the strain relief. :D

I have a customer that wants a panel that will unset at a certain time in the morning after a night set, as they keep forgetting to unset and set the alarm off every other day. Does anyone know of a panel that can do this?

Hi, I have just came across one of these panels that has a faulty keypad - it is an on board type, does anyone know if there is a way to just change the keypad without having to change the entire panel? Thanks in advance...... Steve

I've just installed a Scantronic 9651 panel in my daughter's bungalow, which went really well, and have programmed it 'Full Set' (A) to arm the 5 PIR's as 'Normal Alarms', and the front door contact as 'Entry Route'. Night set (B) arms only 3 of the PIR's & the door contact, leaving the bedrooms un-alarmed for obvious reasons. However, I'm concerned that my 2 yr old Granddaughter may wander into the protected areas and trigger an instant, false, full alarm. Any suggestions as to how to re-program the zones to overcome this, such as somehow making the protected zones 'Entry Routes' when part set, to allow time for Mum to disarm the panel? Thanks in advance Paul

Hello everybody, I was given 2 Texecom T-EOL Pir's and told to fit them at a site as additional sensors to an existing alarm. The panel on site is a Galaxy 60 which Im not 100% familiar with. I just want to know are these sensors compatible with this panel?? Help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, I have a scantronic 9427 and the tamper light stays on, resulting in NUMEROUS activations - even though the alarm isn't switched on - and a serious lack of sleep for me, my wife and 2 kids!!! I have reset the alarm with the code, switched it off at the mains, disconnected mains power, and nothing seems to work!! I have searched on various forums and it seems likely that the internal backup battery probably needs changing....the only problem is, I have no idea where it is or what it looks like!!! I have taken the front off, but i am at a bit of a loss and not sure I can take another night without sleep!!!! Any help and suggestions gratefully received will post …

it pains me to admit it but i think after much deliberation im going to have to hand the alarm project off to someone more adept than myself! I got to a point where i concluded that the system i wanted was the texe ricochet wireless but given that the bell would need to be wired and that it might be better to let someone else set it up rather than me make a mistake and the alarm not function as it should, i have decided to get the pro's in Problem is i would rather not thumb through the yellow pages and pick one at random and no-one i know can recommend a local firm Any tips on how i should locate a few guys to quote?
