Is anybody running a Fiat Doblo / Vauxhall Combo ? (image nicked off google) Apart from them being a touch "Fugly" around the front end they appear to offer class leading load space & an economical 1.3 90bhp TDI, an opinions?

Hi All, Its been a while since my last post mainly due to moving to Australia nearly 3 years ago... Anyway what I would like to know is the following... We live on the East Coast, and the temp can reach 35ish, and it gets really humid! we have just moved house and there is an existing (ancient) alarm installed, which I want to replace. is there a specific PIR that i should use for the higher temps and humidity? or would the kind of temprature I'm talking about here fall into the normall range of any standard PIR? also I would want a pet pir if that would make a difference to suggestions. The last alarm I fitted was a Gardtec 580 panel and RKP, CQR ultima sounder, cant…

thanks to everyone's input so far in helping me on my self install crusade i have narrowed the choice to the above 2 - would love to hear your 2 cents worth on the following: 1. which one and why? 2. as an end user its harder to get the pyronix kit than the texe kit - why is this and where should i buy it? I like the pyronix for the full wireless inc bell but i like the look of the texe gear more esp the door contacts not being built like bricks! i also not really overly concerned about the differences in running costs but would really want to know if there are any major differences that ive not caught already! im kinda torn so hoping to get some final insights or rec…

For a number of months the press have been banging on about the coming raise of postage rates, it being mentioned in DM reminded me to mention it here http://www.dailymail...ass-stamps.html I don't really send enough postage to warrent a franking machine or using uk mail / or tnt, so intend to buy few hundred more stamps as a sheet of NVI 2nd class will be worth £14 than purchase price at the end of next month

Well it looks like the Vodafone TAP is getting less reliable every day. Today it was only sending around 10% of messages from a Castle Euro 46. Tried it on 2 other panels at different sites, story was the same. Pyronix/Castle keep selling it though. Why do they release bulletins like this http://shl.createsend1.com/t/ViewEmail/r/4C70DBB5D28FA0F4 claiming it is reliable when the TAP is out of their control.

Hi all New here and hello. Hoping for a bit of helpful advice. First some background, at various points in my life I have worked as an electrician and in IT and data cabling, but never anything concerning alarms. So although I know little about alarms except what I have read on the net and the Gerard Honey book, I am OK with things technical. Recently moved in to a new house and the wife wanted an alarm. I bought a Yale wireless which was nice and easy to install, but then I found out I could jam the whole system with a car key! So that won't be staying and I want to install a proper wired system. The texecom range has been recommended to me, so am thinking of inst…

Hi all, Firstly I apologise if this question is not in the correct Forum area, and also for my apparent lack of knowledge - if I'm asking a silly question. I have an ADE Optima Compact house alarm. The bottom part of the front cover has been damaged where the screw tightens the cover to the rest of the alarm panel box. I have tried keeping the cover in place by using sellotape and the remaining working screw hole - yes I know a bit of an amateurish idea! But the alarm keeps going off randomly even when it has not been set. I think the alarm cover may not be tight enough and the alarm probably thinks it's being tampered with. I have the code so am able to stop the al…

so after some research i have come up with some options based on the following requirements - wireless kit but not averse to minimal wiring - 2 way signalling / polling - 1 panel - 1 keypad - 5 quad pirs and 1 dual tech - 3 door contacts - 1 sounder with piezos and backlight and 1 decoy - 2 fobs - sms messaging (not critical) - monitoring i dont need for the system to be linked to the internet for remote diagnostics or the suchlike. i realise ill need to maintain batteries and am prepared to invest time and money to keep the system in fine fettle the short list so far includes - pyronix enforcer - texecom premier 48 wireless - scantronic i on I dont like t…

Short version what is the maximum physical size of battery to fit into a Optima XM Control Panel? Long version:- My relative called, bemoaning his Alarm "which goes off when the power does". I explained a few things, so I talked myself into the job. I intend changing his battery, amongst other checks, but he lives a couple of hundred miles away, so it will be timed with a visit to parents. Time is tight, and won't be able to buy local - so what size battery will fit in these old units. It currently has a 1.2AH, but I was hoping for 2.8, though these can be too fat on some panels. Anyone recall? Thanks, Wayne.
