My alarm comprises a Menvier TS690R wireless control panel with a Odyessy 4E bell box. Recently I replaced the cable between the control panel and the bell box. Since then the control panel displays the message BELL TMP, preventing me from setting the alarm. I've checked the microswitch on the bell box is closing correctly and that the wiring connections are good. In test mode the bell and the strobe function correctly. How can I establish whether the control panel or the bell box is at fault? The manual for the control panel does not list the displayed fault. Do I need to perform a reset to clear this fault? I have the passcode for Engineer, but entering this and p…

Hi I fitted a Response wireless alarm system to my house(typical 3 bed semi) a few years ago but after many false alarms and the bell box going off even though the alarm wasn't set (and I checked the tamper switch) I gave up on it. But now after much nagging I have been ordered to install another system. I would prefer to go wireless again but obviously want to spend a bit more and get a professional system instead of another B&Q special. Firstly I have a cat and a dog so I will need pet immune detectors. I am hoping to include the garage as a zone so possibly use a dual tech. I also have patio doors into the dining room/lounge so maybe shock sensors and a pir or wo…

Just ordered a Visonic Powermax complete to pick up tommorow... It comes ready prepped but I have ardered a couple of extra pir's and a remote keypad so I can see how you enrol new devices. Could be even easier to fit than the (cough) Yale stuff and its Grade 2. I looked at the ion 16 but found the setting up was a bit labourious as it is obviously designed as a control panel that will work with anything and therefore all individual parameters have to be set with everything just in case the devices have different settings, The PSTN settings being particulary akward. It's good stuff no doubt and versatile but not quick in and out stuff... I want three installs a day.…

  4. Hi all I'm going to attempt my first alarm install and the panel I've gone for is a Scantronic 9651 and 9940 or 9943 Keypads The alarm is going to be installed in a home garage - It's a garage at the back of my garden and is brick built, with a solid pitch roof. There are two doors and one electric up and over garage door - Size of the garage is around 26ft x 26ft Now obviously, I know that I should be going for Dual Tec PIRs - But there are so many makes and models and prices vary. I have seen Vantage Dual Tec's on eBay alot cheaper than others - So are these a good buy? Thanks

Hi! I have just moved to a house with this type of alarm, but I don't have the code to activate it. I have asked the previous owner, who said they have never used the alarm and they don't know what the code is. I am planning to go for a holiday and I would like to activate the alarm while I am away. What should I do? Is there a reset code which will allow me too chose my own code? If yes, how do I find out what it is? Should I contact an engineer? If so, how much it will cost me approximately? Thanks in advance!

  8. Hi all I need some help. The flat im renting has a Eurosec CPX alarm in it , made by Gardtec. Last night, the alarm starting going off whilst we were in the house. The alarm itself wasnt set at the time, so only the sounder in the house went off, not the outside bell. I haven't got a clue about alarms. As were renting, when we moved in we were both given a keyfob each which operates the alarm. The fob has 4 buttons on it, one with a closed lock symbol, one with an open lock symbol and two blank buttons. We have never been given a code for the alarm and although iv asked our landlord to find out what it is, i dont think he knows. When we looked at the alarm keypad panel…

  12. Please help! I have a eurosec cpx panel and have accidentally deleted the "master" (user 1) code - i have a "user" (user 2) code that I can use to set/unset the alarm, but can't get to any options. I also don't have the "engineer" code. Yes - I know I'm a muppet. Any sensible suggestions, please? How can I factory reset the system, and when factory reset, what is the default engineer/master/user code, please? If I get the engineer code (trying to get in touch with the installer) how would i go about recreating a "master" code? Gratefully appreciate any help available. Thank you. Muppet.

Hi Having installed the G2-20 over a year ago, installing CCTV and extra locks, we still got broken into while away over xmas by someone throwing a brick through a window! The alarm triggered and reset & triggered over 3 hours (who knows what he was doing in the house for that long!) until a neighbour finally investigated. I want to set the system up to text me, as we would have known what was going on, and I thought I had it worked out! I plugged a phone cable (from a laptop) into the onboard socket, programmed in a Vodafone sms centre and tried it - but it gave me an sms comms fail. I have a number of questions, some of which may be stupid, or irrelevant, but a…

Hi, Short intro first, Electronic Engineer by trade- hence took on the challenge of learning how to set up an Ex ADT Honeywell Galaxy 60 system from scratch......Engineer manual is to die for at 198 pages .... but I finally made it! Well chuffed! Have now moved onto trying to program a "link" - such that when a door bell switch is pressed, I operate the on board relay output (1012). Input Zone is working OK, the link is set up and reads 1028+ 1012. I set up the output for Link A, reflex & Neg ploarity... but it will not work! Driving me crazy.... I think it is picking up 1012 input instead of the output as this reads "intruder" when allocated.... how do I get to…
