Hi all I've decided to buy and install an alarm myself. I've been looking at the "Secware Texecom Premium Plus 4 PIR Complete Kit 2" which from what I've read on this site is a good quality brand. As well as the wired door and PIR sensors I will need to put a PIR each in three rooms downstairs where I cant really fit any wires. I've been looking at some of the different wireless expanders and need some clarification as to how these actually work. Firstly, can I use any brand of wireless expander or will certain brands work better with the Texecom prem panel? Also when it comes to configuring the zones, how are the wirless zones handled? - Are all the wireless senso…

Can any one help? A tripped main fuse caused a break in mains power to my Karizma plus / Scantronic 46RX alarm. On reseting the power the alarm sounders activated, and following a reset the 'Power up' message appeared followed by 'NVM Checksum FLT' and the key pad freezes. I've tried disconecting the battery backup, powering off and then powering up with mains supply only but still get the same 'NVM Checksum FLT' message and a frozen pad! Is there any thing else i can try to reboot the system? I have contacted ADE help desk who were not particularly helpful, but did suggest power down, link P1 to 13+, power up and then power down, remove link and power up again. Res…

Just purchased a Texecom Mirage DT Petwise to replace a very old Petwise PIR. Current place is directly above a large (20 cm wide x 1.6m high) radiator - is this wise ? The old PIR was there for 3 year no problem - but we now have a dog as well as the old cat - and my orginal thought was it was the PIR lossing its sensitivity with the larger dog wandering around giving false alarms. But I presume the radiator could also contribute to this ? The PIR unit as 15 cm from the top of the radiator in a corner ?? Should I look to move PIR to new location or will it be OK ? Wise counsel appreciated......

I self installed a galaxy g3 about 1.5 yrs ago. All working fine with vibration, dual tech, and smoke sensors. Was very pleased with meself! Each device is on a separate zone. At 3.30 this morning I got a text message saying "HIGH RES +" on one of my smoke sensors. I thought nothing of it, until 6.15 this morning the alarm went off activated by the same sensor. I reset it, and it went off again a few seconds later. This happened 5 or 6 times. In the end I had to program the zone as spare to stop it. Could anyone please give advice on the possible problem? Of course there was no hint of smoke in the house. Many many thanks Mike

Anyone offer me any advice on the following ??- want to feed mains power from the attic area down and out into the rear off the bell box, just wonder if anyone can offer some tips on the easiest way to achive this ?? is there normally easy access to the inner wall area from the attic ?? bell box is located about a couple off feet from the gutter level off the house and feel this would probably be the easier way off getting power out rather than cutting a channel in the inner wall off the house and then having to replaster once the cable is in place. house is on a newer estate probably around five years old. any tips from the experts on just how you guys go about this ??

I'm upgrading my 20 year old, self-installed home alarm system following an electrical surge which wiped out the control panel and a spate of burglaries in the area which has focussed the mind. I'm going to replace virtually everything except the detector wiring with an altogether better system based on a Scantronic 5651 Panel 660 Communicator and Honeywell Activ8 Dual-Tech Quad PIRs. At the moment I'm simply reading and reading and re-learning - this forum is invaluable. No doubt I shall have a number of queries in the coming weeks but my first concerns wiring the PIRs. I'm tending towards switching to FSL rather than the original separate tamper circuit, but I'm not su…

Hello wise members of the security community. My apologies first. I am a DIY fitter (installer is giving myself far too much credit), I have wireless, I have a cat and should have done more research. Spent the last 2 weeks trying to work out why the cat is triggering the Visonic pet immune detectors only to discover that the ones in the pet immune detector boxes aren't the pet immune type! Thanks supplier! An old thread here about lens blanking in these detectors resulted in me considering this possibility so a big thank you. Anyway, this has given me an issue. The detectors don't have creep zone coverage and I have a room with a large table. I am aware of the guidance…

  11. Does anyone know where I can view and see a comprehensive range of wireless security units and accessories from within a retail environment? A good old fashioned shop, where you can see the manufacturing quality of the product and discuss various options and opinions similar to this web site. My local area seems to be able to supply products but no showrooms to view the potential purchases. Merseyside and Greater Manchester areas if possible.

Hi All New to this forum, looks great. I have a problem with my parents Optima 6 zone alarm panel. After a power cut, all the light on the panel are alight and the keypad will not respond to any inputs (there is also no sound from the keypad). I do think the battery has died because when the power went off, my Dad tried to set the alarm but as soon as he pressed a button all the lights on the panel went out! Any help would be appreciated, thanks. Ada

I have a further question about the Optima control panel. As I will be helping my dad out at the end of the week to resolve an issue with his alarm, I was thinking of giving him my old Texecom bell box to replace his ageing Maplin one! Only trouble is, the connections are rather daunting - am I right in the following... Optima Panel....................Texecom Ext. Sounder Strobe +...........................?? Strobe - ...........................S?? (-ve applied input to activate strobe) D (+ve supply)..................A (Permanent +ve supply) B (-ve sounder trigger).......B (-ve input to activate siren) A (-ve supply)...................…

My dad has currently got an Optima G4 panel, connected to a couple of PIRs and doorswitches. Previously these sensors were connected to a Maplin alarm panel, and had worked fine for many years. Recently, having changed over to the new Optima G4 panel he has noticed that occasionally then a light switch is turned on or off, it triggers a tamper alarm (and hence sounds the internal alarm and outside strobe). None of the alarm cables are run near mains cables, but the alarm panel itself is not on a seperate fuse on the consumer unit. Could this be the problem? Could it be that the Optima panel is more sensitive than the Maplin panel? Any pointers would be much apprecia…

I have a new Yale wireless/telecoms system to install, but I need to uninstall my existing wired system first. The current system installed is IntelliSense SECURIT 800L+ - I do not have the installation manual, only the user manual I downloaded from this site. Can anybody please advise how best to do it - it is still active, although several zones are now showing the tamper warning light. I am very aware that these details cannot be posted publicly, but if you can help, leave me your details and I will contact you for advice.
