About to install a PIR within the kitchen area off the house, the rear patio doors are the weak point off the security off the house hence the extra secuiry required here. just wonder would a door contact be better suited to cover the patio door area or will the pir be good enough for the job ?? just not sure if the pir will pick up different light conditions etc thru the doors themselves and activate the alarm, best sited at the top corner off the room or what ?? lastly- can a pir be sited to avoid picking up a dog walking within the monitored area or would a dedicated pet friendly PIR be deffinatly required ?? already have the pir as opposed to the door contact so if …

Hi, I have recently set up the PowerMax alarm system. According to the instructions it is possible to set up 2 routes to the alarm which will not cause the alarm to be raised. This is done by specifying entry delays. Does anyone know how to set this up? I've specified the entry delays but don't know how to specify the doors. There is nothing in the instructions and I had a search on the forum and could not see anything. Any advice would be great. , Kevin

  5. Dear TSi, Apologies for the repeat questioning! I've just gone to turn down the volume on a mk7 keypad (its the steel one as opposed to the one in the plastic box) and I cannot for the life of me see the volume control, I know I can do it thru the galaxy panel, but as i understand it, i can mute it or have it on - i'd like it to just beep at me quietly And the SMS messaging, the panel will ring out to my mobile (with a blank message - can this be changed or do we need more hardware?) but i cant for the life of me get it to SMS me!!! I assume its something to do with the messaging centre number? help!!! im onsite now and really want to get it done today!!!!!!!!!!!!!! …

Can anyone confirm that it is possible to operate the panel functions (Arm/Disarm, see zone status, etc) remotely using a web browser via the ComIP module ? Texecom sales and Tech support have been pretty useless in this matter so far as they cannot locate any details or user manual for this module. I have the install manual but this is not that helpful with regard to its actual operation. Any help / advice from anyone who has this module running would be greatly appreciated. Bish

Hi, I have installed a Premier 48 pannel and have been using it for several months now without a hitch. I would like to add in some smoke detectors instead of the Homebase 4.99 specials that I currently have. Can anyone recommend a brand that will integrate with the Premier 48 pannel & is there anything I need to look out for when adding this functionality? Also positioning of the smoke alarms, what's best to use in/around a kitchen area. I always remember the ones at my parents going off when ever there was cooking going on, though these were homebase 4.99 specials and the food was never burnt Thanks John

Hi Guys, I moved into a house 6 months ago and the guy who had the house before me fitted the alarm himself. The problem is that I need to make some changes to the part settings etc but I have no idea what the engineer code is, so i set about doing a factory default reset. After I did the reset, the date and time say 1st Jan and 00:00, but my neither the master code or the engineer code are defaulted. My alarm is a Eurosec CP8L. Am I resetting the alarm wrong? The manual says that if the engineer code begins with 9 then it won't be defaulted so it's possible that the code could begin with 9. Would the master code still be defaulted even though the engineer code isn't? …

Hi Guys, I've about finalised the layout for my new system (Texecom Premier 48) but I'm a bit unsure on best placement for the PIR in the hallway and would be appreciate any views on the possible locations shown in the image. My current and soon to be removed alarm (B&Q wireless jobbie) has a PIR in position A set with a pulse count of 2 and that's worked perfectly over the last few years but given the location faces the door and side windows I couldn't use a pulse count of 1 without false alarms from the post coming through the letter box. I'm not sure how the sensitivity of the current sensor compares to the Texecom wired units though. Of the options shown: - …

Hi all New boy in town so go easy. I bought a Texecom Veritas 8 Compact (full kit) to protect my workshop which consists of 3 rooms and two external doors. Looking through the manual before i install it I have a few questions: 1) When routing the cable from each sensor to the dedicated zone, do I terminal block the AUX - and AUX + cables (green and white) and then make two trailing (green and white) outputs to the corresponding terminals on the PCB? (I presume a similar way as recommended for the Global Tamper (blue and yellow)? 2) The wiring of the magnetic contact to a zone (contact end) shows the Yellow and Blue (Tamper) being connected to the same terminal. Obvio…
