I'm just commissioning a galaxy 18 for my home, all configured and ready to go except it doesn't unset properly. on entering the 'front door' which is configured as a 'final' the keypad starts to beep as the unsetting procedure starts. on trying to enter the PIN on the keypad, '*s' aren't displayed although beeps are heard inbetween the countdown beeps. It's not until the timeout occurs and the alarm goes off that the keypad will accept the PIN and unset the alarm. I hope there is something obvious that I've missed with the config that someone can help with.

  2. Hi all, wonder if anyone could offer advice/thoughts..... I am quite tech minded and have installed a couple of alarm systems over years for personal use....My mum has a securit alarm and her keypad has stopped working, although the lights are still on, and if '2' pressed keyboard lights up, however she cant set code to arm/disarm. It will be a while before I can travel to look at personally and I am getting the fault second hand from an elderly lady, but is there anything that springs to mind to try without calling engineer?? The guy who installed ceased to trade, but with callout etc, I wondered whether easier just to replace whole system myself with another securit…

  3. Hi folks, The alarm speaker on my G3 has a series resistor on the terminal block so I wired it in, even with the volume at max its not particularly loud, does a G3 need this resistor or should I just wire the speaker directly to the speaker output? Thanks.

Hi all, I have a real phobia of all things alarm related - maybe not the best site to join but desperate!! I've been away and all the batteries in the detectors are dead - I think (all zones are red and low battery indicator). I tried to change the entry/exit one last night and it went mental with a tamper alarm. It really scared me and now I daren't touch. Yes I am blonde and could really do with some very basic step by step instructions....I have the user and programming codes, just don't know what to do and in what sequence. The user guide doesn't mention changing any of the batteries other than the remote pannel (which I have successfully done before). Pleas…

I've been asked to activate the chimes feature on an ADE compact SL, the manual gives no mention of this. Anyone got a more in depth manual that they can have a look at. I've downloaded Optima manuals too and they dont mention it. I know all the codes, system is fine, just needs chimes enabling. for any help given. Andy

As you know I will be fitting 6662 systems shortly.. If an insurer wants a NACOSS system is it possible for a NACOSS alarm fitter to inspect an alarm and pass it? How much would such a service cost and could the servicing then be passed onto a NACOSS installer and everyone is happy? I would be perpared to let a NACOSS installer survey my completed installs and in return I would pass on the service contract. That way I can get insurance approved work by proxy and that would comply with the insurers needs or am I wrong? Surely a local NACOSS approved fitter would be more than prepared to do this in return for the servicing? I am happy with the risk assesment part and…

Hi folks, This weekends challenge is to get a RF keyfob 5804H to work with my G3 and RF RIO. I put the RF RIO into prog mode, connected a keypad, added the fob, recognised ok, enabled max with 5 digit seed eg 12345, I then set buttons B1 and B2 to max, codes are displayed B1=M12345011 and B2=12345012. Buttons 3 and 4 will only set to zone, so did this although there is an option for a 7 digit serial number on the zones, I don't know what goes in here, it says detector serial number but its a fob?? Anyway took the RIO out of prog mode, the panel sees a new RIO 103x. Went to the panel user menu 42, set 2 spare users with MAX codes 12345011 and 12345012, set the max fun…

Hi, I am a new member to this forum not sure how things work. Problem: Have a Racal Security Light System fitted about 28 years ago. The Relay in the RLC1 Light Control Unit has developed a fault. If I could obtain a replacement Relay I could fit it myself but don't hold out much hope of obtaining one. Alternatively would anyone know how I could obtain a replacement RLC1 Light Control Switch? Grateful for any advice, many thanks. Killeendooling

I accidently knocked my keypad (9930) for the above alarm system which set off the tamper alarm. I turned the alarm off with the access code but it now displays 'K01 Tamper' which cannot be reset using the keycode. I've read on the forums that I need the installers/engineers manual to reset this, can anyone point me the right direction or provide the necessary steps which I need to take?

Hi, Can you tell me the minimum required spec for police response alarm from a phone line point of view, ie is a scantronic 9853 with built in communicator using a shared line sufficient, or will it need a dedicated phone line etc Some ARC's a quoting REDcare as their minimum. Reason being, I'm having a 4 month old professionally installed (by national company) alarm removed due to poor fitting and unreliable equipment. As I'm in the electronics/wiring industry, but not alarms, I've decided to fit a new scantronic system myself and have plenty of maintenance conpanies happy to take over the maintenance contract once they inspect the system. My only query is, if I …
