  1. Hi I inherited the Securit 700L Alarm System in my flat when I moved in. Concerned about whether the codes written into the manual were right (ie. not "coded" for memory by previous owner) I never used my home alarm - but now I need to fix a bulb fitting and need to switch off the Mains. How do I do this? If I switch it off - the alarm sounds. If I enter the 4 digit code - nothing happens. Ive tried looking into the box on the front of the house and that triggered the Tamper 'alarm' so I now have a flashing 4, flashing Tamper, and the first 2 LED's on the upper and lower rows to the left are both fixed on. I did find the box which a guy who "used to install these things"…

Hi all, I'm thinking of installing a powermax+ control unit in the electricity meter cupboard. it's a small cupboard so the control unit will only be a few centimetres away from the main fuse box and metre, could this cause interference with the wireless comms? Is there a recommended minimum distance the control unit should be away from the fuse box/ meter, or will this location be ok? I want to put it there coz it's the most discrete location. Any experience with this sort of installation? Also, will the wireless signal be strong enough to reach an external wireless sounder (the outside wall is solid brick about 1 foot thick) Thanks.

Hi guys I'm hoping you can answer a couple of questions I have regarding my DIY install. Details are - Pre-wired new build house Galaxy 2-20 Panel Galaxy KeyProx RKP 4 x Honeywell DT7550A DualTec PIR's Panic Button Possibly a Garage Door Contact - Not decided yet Ok, so where are we then. Well I have the Panel mounted on the wall, nicely wired to a fused 3A supply and with all of the prewires into the back of the panel. The KeyProx is mounted at the point of entry and the BellBox prominantly at the front of the house. My problems - I'm only using the one RKP and the instructions, albeit not very clearly, mention a 680ohm(I think) end of line resistor - Do I…

I have attached my external sounder to the wall and connected the wiring to it. Is it ok to attached the cover, then connect the wiring to the panel. After this I plan to connect the panel to the mains and then connect the battery. Is this order ok or should I follow a different order?

Hi, I'm planning to install a powermax+ system that comes bundled with an external wireless alarm. Because of the design of the block, there is no where near the flat that it can be installed that is beyond easy reach of a passer by. Can anyone tell me how secure the alarm box is? Is it tamper resistant? Is it made of metal and will it withstand a few whacks if some vandal/ burglar tries to bash it off the wall? Does anyone have any suggestions of how it might be secured so that it is tamper proof? Also, out of interest, other than the pretty box, what are the key performance differences between the PowerMax+ and the PowerMax Pro? Thanks.

Hi all, I would be grateful for any advice I can get regarding a GSM module I have put into a new ESP infinite prime. I have tried various locations for the control panel but cannot receive a signal level higher than 3-4 even though in this location my mobile phone is indicating a full signal level. I can ring in to the panel but there is an awful lot of interference, and on testing the burglar activation the panel will not ring out, although it did once when I first set up the system. I have double checked and everything is set up properly. I was wondering if there is some way for me to tweak the signal or have I been sold a dud?. Thanks.

I have just wired up my Accenta G4 panel, Odyssey 5 bell, 4 PIRS, door contact and internal sounder. I connected the internal battery on the Odyssey 5 and the left LED started flasing and then I closed the lid and the right LED started flashing meaning the tamper closed correctly. However as soon as I connected the battery in the panel the internal sounder sounded and the Odyssey 5 started sounding. This is what I expected. HOWEVER, after entering the default xxxx code the system continued to sound! To stop the noise I disconnected the battery in the panel. The external bell (Odyssey 5 continued to sound quietly for a few minutes then stopped (probably because the ba…

Hi there i am currently in the taking over a shop, which has got a shockingly installed 4 zone AJ600 panel. we are going to refit the unit so i was going to rewire the system and relocate some points but it seems that the jeneral opinion of these panels is that they are obsolete. There is no faults on the panel and has been operating fine for along time. so is it worth keeping finding an install manual and just running new cables, keeping the pirs and chainging the rest or bin the lot and start again. Any help or guidance would be fantastic.

Hi, Newbie here. I've got a scantronic 9651 panel, and just got home to find it giving me a "battery low" warning, with an audible beep. I'm happy to call the installers tomorrow, (unless replacing the battery is relatively easy?) but is there any way of shutting off that bloody beep? We've got a panel in our bedroom, and I don't think anyone's going to be able to sleep with the noise. Can anyone help? .

  15. Hi, I recently had a texecom premier alarm installed. At the time i was still waiting for NTL to connect me up. The installer said that he would leave the wires in the phone box thing and all i had to do was connect them. Not too sure where to connect the wires?? Below are several pictures, please help. The picture below shows the NTL phone box. Above this is the internal speaker for the alarm. The installer has ran one white cable... 7 core?? i think? and all the cables go to the internal speaker apart from a red and a black which he has left in the phone box. The NTL phone box, only has two wires connected to it. the wires are a white and blue stripe and a blue …
