New Alarm For Garage - What Are Good Dual Tec's?

Featured Replies

Hi all :)

I'm going to attempt my first alarm install and the panel I've gone for is a Scantronic 9651 and 9940 or 9943 Keypads

The alarm is going to be installed in a home garage - It's a garage at the back of my garden and is brick built, with a solid pitch roof.

There are two doors and one electric up and over garage door - Size of the garage is around 26ft x 26ft

Now obviously, I know that I should be going for Dual Tec PIRs - But there are so many makes and models and prices vary.

I have seen Vantage Dual Tec's on eBay alot cheaper than others - So are these a good buy?

Thanks

never heard of them so cant really say.

But id look at the optex mx40, honeywell 7450 or 7550 and the rokonet iwise units

Thanks

Have you have good expeience yourself with the detector's you've suggested? As i've now read on here that the microwave part of a Dual tec can often pickup interference and hence cause false alarms?

Edited by virdi

only if not setup correctly or fitted in the wrong location.

I have experience of honeywell and optex. Personally now id go for the honeywell if it were me.

is it ok for me to have two Dual Tec PIRs that are covering the same area?

Will the microwave or PIR sensors interfere with eachother?

No, it is possible if they are on exactly the same freq but most modern sensors dont have this problem
