Hi, I am new to confirmed alarms - I understand it is for clarification of an intruder to the ARC, however I dont use an ARC. I do have a master blaster though and want to set this to go off on confirmed alarms only. I know I can progam an output to apply 12v on confirmed - but do I need to make any other settings on the panel? Pls advise, Thanks, Andy

  4. Hi, everyone. I am new to the forum. . I have just rented a industrial unit. There is a alarm been installed. ADE Honeywell Optima Compact However, I believe the panel has gone in engineering mode. It powered by a main socket. If I switch on the power, the siren goes off. And the panel keypad will litup. But none of the buttons are working. I have read and understand the rule of this forum, but is there anything that I can do without contact a local alarm guy? I am considering install a new panel and using existing inputs (i.e. PIRs and door contacts etc). Is this a straight forward job as long as I mark and label the old connnection clearly and correctly? If I…

Hi, I have just replaced my old 816 with a shiny new 595. All is well, however when I unset the system by either code or Gtag i sometimes get the message 'ACE battery low'. I do have an ACE keypad (upstairs), but i do not use any ACE fobs. Your input as usual, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Andy

I've got an old Powermax (433Mhz) system. I was just refitting it after some building work and one of the 12v power wires touched the back of the panel and no it won't work (should have disconnect the 12v external battery first ) . The arm, trouble and chime lights come on but nothing else happens. I'm assuming that I've fried something on the panel and will need a replacement. They aren't made anymore so has anyone any ideas where I could get an old 433 panel or is here any other option than throwing the whole system away and starting again (as suggested by a couple of retailers). Thanks, Paul

Hi All I'm going to do a home install shortly, been planning for few weeks and now have my system purchase ready. Going for a Texecom Premier 48, will also be using the grade 3 anti masking PIR that Texecom offer (Prestige) Sorry for what may be a basic question, but the install manuals say the sensor should not look at a window, (other info on line says PIR's should not look at windows within 1/2 of there range). Should the sensors therefore point away from windows, or are they OK at a 45 degree angle. I've attached a floor plan to my home (hope this works), for ref the rooms A & B are approx 4m square. The N/S/E/W is just for ref is needed for position descrip…

  8. Gents, Great site with bags of information thanks. I have a Accenta G4 mini panel with 4 wired zones, 1 external Reson8 sounder and 1 external keypad. I have been happy with its perforamnce thus far. I have wired in a seperate strobe that is for use indoors, this works well. I have also connectd in an internal siren and have connected this in parallel to the strobe so both operate together under alarm conditions. My question is...if the alarm is triggered, when it times out after 20 mins (my setting) the external sounder will mute, will this be the same for internal strobe and hence the siren? I would prefer the internal siren to mute when the external sounder mutes. …

Hi Guys, My first post here so go easy on me, I have had my alarm since I moved into the house around 2 years ago, I came home last night and tried to change the alarm code without success, it now seems that all the lights are flashing on the panel including TPR and there is a constant tone I have tried my original code and # and also the code i tried to reset to and # but nothing worked. I have then removed the fuse that controls the main box which switched off the panel, after doing this I took off the tamper cover of the main box and disconnected the battery and left it for 5 mins, I then reconnected the battery, put the cover back on the main box and put the fuse b…

Hey all, i'm not sure (as others have said) that anyone will be able to help me!! we bought a new house recently which was a repossession, therefore we didn't have the alarm code, to get around this i did what has been suggested elsewhere and took the fuse out of spur it was attached to. I just wondered if there is anyway i can reset the alarm system without getting someone out, i understand that you can't tell people on the internet how to disarm the systems! i'm not stupid, just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction... look forwad to hearing from anyone! feeling clueless!! Thanks guys!

Hi, I've seen a Texecom Premier 48 panel advertised as 'new' for sale and the details given are P4801 ver 8.01. Could anyone tell me if this is the most up-to-date version, or if this is 'out of date / old' stock. Depending on how out of date it is, is it still worth considering purchase for the right price for my own domestic installation? Many thanks as always.

I am finalising my kit list for installation. Could anyone advise if a Texecom Com2400 digicomm can be used to connect the alarm panel to my home network in order that control / programming can be done through the Wintex software on my PC, or will I need a PC-Com Serial Connector? Many thanks

Hi, The keypad on my ADE Karizma ID panel has failed. Press any digit and it echoes across the LED screen. The keypad is the simple version, pn 8EP175. I cannot find a new one and wondered if anyone had one or a reconditioned /repaired one. Or is this a known fault and easily fixed. If all else fails does anyone have a diagram with the wiring connectors or schematic so an electronics repairer might be able to have a look. Thanks, Graham.

I.ve just installed a powermax plus system (no problems). However am I right in thinking that there the power saving function on the PIR's can possibly creates a 2 minute window after arming were the system cannot detect an intruder.

  15. Hello All, I moved into a place a few years back which had a 9800 Scantronic alarm system fitted. It's fairly old, but still works fine. I've had quotes to upgrade it, but was way beyond my budget. I recently acquired a 960 speech dialler/digital communicater. Its has the standard scantronic plug-on interface, so I simply opened up my 9800 panel and plugged the communicator in. I got a telephone line extension (that works) plugged into it, however, on lifting the handset the LED light on the panel should come on and I should get a dial tone....I don't get either. I've read the install instruction for the 960 many times and I cannot figure out what I'm missing. My ques…
