  4. Hi, I have moved into a house with a wired alarm system with 3 PIRs, radio panic button, and bellbox connected to a Bentley Alpha V2/4 panel with a keyswitch to set and unset the alarm. Does anyone have any service information on the Bentley or any useful wiring diagram? Any information on servicing the system also required. I am reasonably proficient with electrical/electronics and am thinking of maintaining this system myself rather than continuing the maintenance contract at £125 per annum as that seems rather a lot for an old system, and a complete new system with telephone dialler is not much more. If I do get a problem with the system, would I be better off just…

Hi, I'm hoping for a bit of advice if possible, i am installing a scantronic homelink 55 system in my friends house and i have set up the panel with the wired zones and got the keypad and bell working fine but i tried to install the rf expander and it was having none of it. It says you can wire it in a star method so i have one cable coming from the bus connections to the keypad and another separate cable going to the rf expander (8 zone) but when i connect the data cable with the sysem powered off as it states and then turn it back on instead of 2 clean beeps its making a weird noise as if its getting interference and the screen is flashing 88 and making a noise every …

  7. hi guys, Im refurbing my house and I had to remove the unit I installed several years ago as the room was being totally replastered back to brick. On reconnecting it I may have inadvertently wired the keypad wrongly, and blew the 250ma fuse :/!! On rechecking the connections I had the + in the wrong place (it had been a looong day and was nearly dark!) So when it was wired incorrectly there was no power to keypad, and the bell would just kick in when the main unit was powered up (no shock there then!). However on getting it back to how it should be, I now have power to the keypad, the alarm has stopped ringing, but nothing seems to be working!!! it is in the 'unset' …

I have added another door contact to my sterling 10. however when I do the walk test and go to set the alarm,it says that the door is open ??? I have set the zone as no5 (next on the board) and have set as "immediate" in the programme memory. I have done a continuity test on the cable and the cable and mag contact are working fine, it just says that it's open when I connect to system. Any help/advise would be great.. Thanks

  11. Hi, Just after a bit of advise, should be simple.? I have a Sterling 10 system all working fine, i have the manuals, codes, instructions etc etc. I have decided to upgrade the bell box to a back lit Deltabelle, that i have purchased of the net. The guy i bought it from suggested that i completely power down the whole system including battery back up then replace box otherwise i may short out the system, Question is, will i need to completely reprogramme the panel and PIRS when i bring it back to life, or will it still have the info stored? If i do , i had better get reading the instruction manual before i take it apart. Any advise would be triffic Thanks in advance…

Hi I have a dome camera which is metal cased. It has 4 bolt holes on top to allow fixing, it also has a sticky back foam pad which overs the top area. I have stuck the foam pad down, then pushed the bolts through the foam, these are then bolted to a horizontal plate on top of a 5m post. I have put silicone around the holes, but now i discover the camera has filled with water. What is the proper way to mount these cameras using this method, can i use rubber washers etc... Can someone please advise. Thanks

Hi I installed a Eurosec CPX alarm system a few years ago and it has worked great since then. However, the alarm went off yesterday (because a door blew open in the wind), and when I switched the alarm off, there was an error on the RKP saying either battery or fuse fault - may be coincidence? When I opened the main box, I found the AUX fuse (1A) had blown. I've replaced it and it blows again straight away on powerup. Am I right in thinking that the power for the speaker, bell box and PIRs goes throught this fuse? In which case, I guess it's just a process of elimination? Any other tips would be gratefully received, Thanks Steve.

  14. Hi guys, nice forum you have here. please excuse my first post being full of questions!!!!!! Anyways I want to remove my eurosec cp8l, fitted when the house was built a few years ago, No eng code and has been reset to begin with 9. I would like to remove as i dont have the eng code, the battery has had it, i want to add a new zone, edit part set, replace some pir's with animal imune. So of course the sensible option is to chuck it in the bin and replace the panel+keypad, Going to keep the ext sounder already fitted. (unless i have already broken it, long story) I have the panel completely powered down, mains isolated, battery disconected. The only concern i have is w…

Hello, this is my first post. I have almost reached the final stage of installing my system based on a Scantronic 9853 wired to 12 zones (FSL) and a pair of Texecom bell boxes. Most detectors are magnetic contacts (5) but I have five shock detectors on vulnerable door frames and two break glass detectors. (No PIR's due to pets) This installation has taken over three years (!) whilst the house was heavily rebuilt and rewired and the panel and bell boxes have sat packed in boxes until now. Wiring has been run for ages and only now tested and terminated as I go round fitting my detectors and panel now that final decorating is done. Whilst getting ready with the ladders to…
